I almost always try to stay out of soccer threads. The game doesn't appeal to me, and that's fine. If the cheer-leading nature of soccer fans is the problem, why the 'I hate soccer, cuz it's boring and I ain't no onewhobitesthepillowtomaskanalpain-got towelhead' opening salvos?
And for the, 'no biggie, but the fans who insist we just don't understand their precious shitty game' crowd; how SHOULD one respond when you understand the game and find it exciting, then people say 'It's boring because nothing ever happens?'
Why don't Shakespeare, or chess, or heck baseball fans face the same scorn.
