Where Smith has earned some admiration is in his toughness; he didn't collapse under the pressure and become a shell like, say, a David Carr. He has handled all the adversity very well.
Can you win with him? Yeah, I think so. Is he a top flight hall-of-famer-type like Manning or Brady? NO. But he's the best QB we've had since Green, who was the best QB we'd had since Dawson, so there's that.
If people are to be honest, I think they'd admit that people who are fans of Smith view him exactly as you have described above. I know of no one that thinks he is a "top flight Hall-of-Famer-type like Manning or Brady."

Why are we talking about Smith in this thread anyway? I clicked on it to see the debate about RG3 and Cousins. Which side hijacked this thread? Smith-fans or detractors?
