(For clarity, Pgh is a triangle that points west. The north side of the triangle is the Allegheny River, the south side is the Monongahela River. They meet at "The Point" to become the Ohio River.)

Assuming flying into PIT airport, taking rental car into city. As you come through the Ft Pitt tunnels, it opens up on the city. "The Point" will be to your right, and the two stadiums will be to your left. Great view. May want to be ready to take a pix.

For fun before game, go to Station Square (on south side of the Mon across from the city) and take a water taxi to Heinz field. After the game, take the taxi back to SS. Then you can have all the fun you want at the game and not have to struggle with traffic.

You may even consider staying in a hotel in SS (we stay at the Sheraton). Great restaurant is the Grand Concourse (3-4 blocks east of the Sheraton, along river, same side of the road, in the old train station). Between the Sheraton and the GC, on the other side of the street is a huge Steeler's Shop, where you can get some really interesting Steeler stuff. If you Google "Station Square restaurants" you will see what I mean. Many good places to eat.

There are some really cool bars there at SS, from beer bars to the high-toss snatch bars. Also, a block or two south of Grand Concourse is the Incline Railroad that will run you up to top of Mount Washington. Great view of Pgh at night. It is breathtakingly glorious, actually.

On Mt Washington there are some great resaurants, too. We particularly love the Monterey Bay Fish Grotto. Has fresh fish from all over the world.

All of the above (SS, Mt Washington, Heinz Field) are in a very small area. People are friendly there, too. Tolerant of outsiders. Yinzes should have a good time.

The stadiums are on the "North Shore" (of the Allegheny River). Around the stadiums are some bars that are ok. If you venture out into the North Side neighborhoods, you will run into Sports Bars with the hardcore "Stiller Fans." They are somewhat onery, and short tempered -- and that's with each other.

Just my two cents!
