It's not the pistol it's the caliber. Since all the NATO members used a 9mm std. we felt that we should standardize on it also. It was a mistake IMO.
By the way I'm a fan of the Beretta 92 I own a couple of them They are darn good weapons.

I love that Beretta 92 pistol also, just a solid pistol. I'm not sure if they can do what Glock does and just tweak it for a larger cartridge and bullet. However, I'm pretty sure you can run +P ammo through it as is.
