It wouldn't take much to include the cockpit voice recorder and flight recorder to the proximity switch to where any time the landing gear is up, they will both be running. You want them to run at engine start not at gear up, trying to remember and think they are powered by the oil pressure switches, don't have my manuals with me but this should be the way it works (at least on Airbus)
