As I said earlier, you often hear fans of Big 12 schools (like jack harry) saying they know some Missouri fan who confided in them that they wish we were still in the Big 12, but you never actually meet anyone who thinks that.
I suspect these dodo are even harder to find in the wild, after last week's win.
Living deep in the SEC's footprint, my experience is that we have earned a lot of respect from fans, at least in this area. The idea was that a top 4 or so team coming over from the Big 12 would be a bottom feeder in the SEC. I think we are right where we expected to be, middle of the road in the conference in year two. We nearly beat Georgia last year, beat them in their house this year, and we took Florida to the last play in their house last year.
The feeling around here is much the same as it is with our fans, this is nice and will help recruiting, to be a credible SEC football program, not just a member of the conference. Are we realistically going to beat South Carolina or whomever wins the west? Probably not, and of course not.
But we're not only here, we are showing we belong here. And we can build from that.
