So tired of seeing Brees4MVP

Yes, another MVP thread. I am selfish and wanted to have my own. It's starting to get a bit annoying with idiot Saints fans and idiot media personalities thinking that Drew Brees deserves the MVP. I did a little break down of the two from this year and it made it even more clear that Mahomes is light years ahead of Drew.

Anyone that thinks Brees is even in the conversation for MVP is a complete idiot. 4 straight games of 203 or less yards, 4 straight games with an interception, 3 straight games with 1 or less passing tds. Alex Smith puts up better numbers than that and he isn't even close to an MVP. Brees has the number 7 scoring defense. A defense that has held their opponent to 20 or less points a game in 10 out of 14 games, so lets not act like Brees is the reason that team is winning.

Patrick Mahomes on the other hand is on pace to have the 2nd best season by a quarterback in history. More than likely he is going to pass for 50 td passes, something only Tom Brady and Peyton Manning have done. It took Brady 7 years to do it and Manning 16 seasons to do it. Mahomes is probably going to do it in just his first starting season. Hes also on pace for around 5200 yards, so in his first season as a starter he will have a better season than Drew Brees and Tom Brady have ever had, both have been starting for 17 years. So Brees has the number 7 defense to help him out, but Mahomes isn't that fortunate. He has the number 28 scoring defense. So lets quit acting like Brees has to do everything to help that team win. Any mediocre QB could be on that team and they would win. You want to say that Alex did very well with this team last year. Alex is a decent qb, but take a look at his numbers when a the opponent scores 24+ points (9-42-1). The reason that matters is because the Chiefs Defense has allowed 24 or more points in 8 out of 14 games this year. Thankfully the Chiefs have a stud at qb and is 5-3 in those games.

So the case some people are arguing for Drew Brees. Oh he has a 74.9 completion percent!!1!!! The list of highest single season completion percentages isn't filled with many great QBs, the top 20 list has only has 5 HoF qbs on it and is littered with mediocre QBs, like Sam Bradford, Ken Anderson, Kirk Cousins, Tony Romo, Brian Grese. Only 2 QBs that have won MVP had the highest completion percentage that year, Young and Montana, but Young was also first in TDs and 4th in YDs and Montana was 4th in TDs, 8th in YDs, and was 11-2 as a starter. Some really mediocre qbs have had pretty high completion percentage, so I wouldn't try to back an argument with that stat. Well what about the number of Ints? Well that isn't a MVP worthy stat either. The list of guys who have the least amount of Ints in a season is littered with guys that didn't amount to anything. Hell Steve Deberg has the 2nd lowest ints in a season and Alex Smith had 5 in a season with the 49ers.

Now the case for Patrick Mahomes. He is 1st in TD passes (11 more than 2nd place) and only 5 TDs away from being only the 3rd QB to get to 50. In the top 6 most passing TDs 5 of the players won the MVP that year. The lone exception is in 2011 Drew Brees had 46 passing TDs (good for the 5th most ever) and lost the MVP to Aaron Rodgers who just happened to have 45 TD passes (tied for 6th most ever with Patrick Mahomes). He is also 1st in passing yards and is 88 yards ahead of 2nd place. You would think that having the most yards and touchdowns would mean he would have the most passing attempts, well you would be wrong. He is currently 6th in passing attempts, 64 attempts from Big Ben who has thrown the most passes so far. He also has the 12th best completion percentage at 67.1, which is pretty damn good.

Both players lead the top team in their division. The Saints only have 1 more win than the Chiefs, the Saints have played the 15th hardest schedule and the Chiefs have played the 8th hardest schedule. The Saints' defense is ranked 7th in ppg and the Chiefs is ranked 28th in ppg. So it really just blows my mind how anyone can look at the stats and say that Drew Brees deserves the MVP over Patrick Mahomes.

Not fair, but Saints are 4-1 against winning teams.
Chiefs are 3-3 against winning teams.

QB of best team gets it. Not fair but whatever.

Donald should get it, but I'm biased towards defense.

QBs are playing flag football, stats are horseshit anyway.

JakeF 12-18-2018 01:36 PM

Kamara shouldn't have received OROTY over Hunt either.

If they give it to Brees it’s then not an mvp but a lifetime achievement award. I’d rather Pat get SB MVP.

Why Not? 12-18-2018 01:41 PM

Win on Sunday and Pat gets all the regular season shit. HFA(don't give me this shit about the Raiders. If that's the game the Chiefs need to win to hold of LAC for HFA, they win by 14 or more), MVP and maybe even OPOY. Lose Sunday and it's all up for grabs. Shouldn't be that way but they'll hold the individual accountable for the shortcomings of the team.

15 more TDs and 1,000 more yards so far says Brees aint winning MVP.

Sorry, but if you want to convince me you’re going to need to write more words.

Notice Aaron Donald isn't even on there.

I'm honestly sick of MVP being MVQB.

Don't get me wrong, Mahomes has unreal numbers but if I'm objective what Donald is doing is rare.

Caveat: HUGE bias towards defense.

Last three weeks:

QB Opp Cmp Att Cmp% Yds TD Int Rating

Brees @Dal 18 28 64.29 127 1 1 71.6
Mahomes @Oak 23 38 60.53 295 4 0 120

Brees @TB 24 31 77.42 201 1 1 90.9
Mahomes Bal 35 53 66.04 377 2 1 91.5

Brees @Car 23 35 65.71 203 0 1 69.1
Mahomes LAC 24 34 70.59 243 2 0 110.3

It shouldn't even be discussed at this point. I'd take Philip Rivers over Brees at this point for MVP, but nobody touches Mahomes.

redfan 12-18-2018 01:58 PM

Well then, you're going to be positively retching when he wins it.

lcarus 12-18-2018 02:03 PM

**** Brees and his dumbass birthmark. He should take a quarter, go downtown, and have a rat gnaw that thing off his face.

Dayze 12-18-2018 02:13 PM
