Another Wedding Toast

3 years ago my oldest daughter got married and CP helped me with the Toast to the Bride and Groom.... Well daughter #2 is getting married tomorrow and I'm on the spot again.... This time I'm better prepared.
After thanking the guests for sharing in this special day I will tell a story about my daughter.
My middle girl was the Tom boy of the 3 girls... Played sports, collected baseball cards, and loved to watch football with her dad especially the Chiefs... Around 2003 or so she was 10 and that's when Dick Vermeil was the coach and Tony Gonzalez was having his big years. She would say "That Tony Gonzalez is so cute... I'm going to marry him.. that's my future Husband!!!" At that point I'll turn to the bride and groom and say "What happened to that plan??"
Then I will say that obviously the groom isn't Tony Gonzalez..... he's better....and I'm very proud to have him be a part of our family. My beautiful wife and will be married 30 years in about 3 days and that is what I wish for them along and happy marriage filled with family and love.
My youngest daughter just got engaged 2 months ago ( holy shit).. So if I'm not on here as much I may be working 3 jobs or in jail for robbing a bank to pay for another big wedding..

Thank God she wasn't into Alex Smith! An entire debate would have started!

Congrats

Congrats!

My nieces are 22 and 20.

22 year old - got engaged in February, getting married July 22, and just moved into their new house.

20 year old - got engaged in April, getting married August 12, and moving into their new house around the time of the wedding.

My nephew will be 16 this year, so at least we can wait a while before the next one. Still, it's going to be a crazy summer.

Way too young for marriage, those should be discouraged. Failure rates before/after age 25 are stark

I actually tend to agree with you. I don't think it will be the case for my older niece. She and her fiance have been dating since they were 15 or 16. She went to Disney World for 9 months after she graduated to intern. About 6 months after she got back, they moved in together outside of the small town they grew up in. They've experienced time apart, the joys of living together, and have gotten used to each other's quirks.

My younger niece, though, started dating her fiance her senior year of high school (she was 18), and he's about 4 years older than her. They are very religious, and never really done much outside of their town (and it's the type of town where nearly everyone gets married young). I really think that, if she ever has the time to experience life, they may not last.

I got married at 26. I had no idea what I was doing. Many of my friends were getting married, and that completely influenced my decision-making at the time. I'd have been a better husband getting married at 30, but I fought my way through the urges to cheat and hang out with my remaining single friends in Chicago. It was a struggle early on, but 24 years later, we are still happily married and sending our oldest Son off to College this Fall. Life is good.

I do tend to agree that getting married before 25 is a real bitch. You typically aren't financially or emotionally mature enough to tackle the responsibilities of marriage. That said, to each his/her own. We tend to follow our heart, regardless of our financial and emotional stability.
