Seems close in capabilities but yet offering different solutions.

Any opinions would be appreciated.

Condsidering either setup. The new Mac Book i is nice as is the IPad Pro with Keyboard.

Depends: for media consumption go with with the iPad, for media creation(papers, spreadsheets, video editing) go with the MacBook.
