Missing out on a great dinner opportunity in Jacksonville tomorrow as a Royals fan

I am so bummed.....I almost got 2 free tickets to go to a Dinner on The Diamond with Legends event here in Jacksonville tomorrow night. Here is who is going to be there:

Vince Coleman
Amos Otis
Willie Wilson
Frank White
Jim "Mudcat" Grant
Chipper Jones
Andre Dawson
Ferguson Jenkins.

Also there are Sarah Burns and David McMahon who wrote and produced the Ken Burns documentary "Jackie Robinson " that was on PBS. They will be honoring the Negro Leagues of Jacksonville and one of the last surviving members of the Negro League from Jacksonville, Harold "Buster" Hair.

Man I hate that I will have to miss this.

Damn that sounds like a cool event to be at. Bummer.

Damn, I almost got to eat out and screw Salma Hayek but I had to do something else.

Man I hate that I have to miss this!

I live about 2 hours from Jax and I would KILL to go to that. But it's already sold out. And individual tickets when available were $200. It's probably best for my marriage's sake that I didn't hear about that sooner.

The killer for me was that the tickets were free for me.

Ferguson Jenkins

Wow, I spent the first years of my sporting fandom in Chicago and watched the Cubs all the time on WGN. It was towards the end of his career (and Ron Santo and Ernie Banks) but man it was so much fun when he would go up against Bob Gibson or Tom Seaver.

1969 tore my young heart out but I guess it was just to toughen me up to eventually be a Chiefs fan.

I hope you're having to attend the birth of a child or something like that. :D

Nice way to start out my Monday morning after Chiefs win.

I got to my desk this morning and one of my team members who got a couple of the other set of tickets to this dinner was nice enough to get a program and have all the players in attendance sign it for me. The only one she didn't get was Ferguson Jenkins.

Got Amos Otis, Frank White, Willie Wilson, John Mayberry, Vince Coleman, Andrew Dawson and Jim "Mudcat " Grant.

Nice way to start out the day...
