Kansas KCP&L Customers getting 12% rate increase

Just read a choice bit of a mail today. KCP&L is petitioning for a 12% rate increase for Kansas residence. So that extra money you got from the cheaper gas? Well, don't get used to it being in your pocket.

**** that it's already expensive enough. Of course right before summer

The raise if passed, and I am sure it will be, won't take place until October. But still, it's rather crappy. 12%????

Ahahaha. So glad I picked the Missouri side.

Prison Bitch 04-29-2015 07:25 PM

It's proposed, not passed.

They have to petition for the increases based on cost increases, right. I wonder what those are.. 12% is quite a bit for a single year.

Seems fair. That's what you get for living in Kansas.

Hopefully this means Pete can't afford internet access anymore.

Said it was for environmental compliance, upgrades to the Wolf Creek power plant and infrastructure upgrades.

There are a lot of new EPA regulations on coal power plants. All of the electric companies are having to upgrade these plants and they're passing the costs (and then-some) on to the people.

What makes you think you'd be allowed to live in OP? :p

Im thinking about buying another house in Las Vegas (which has virtually the same standard of living as Johnson County) so I looked up the difference in cost of living because i was concerned with what 115 degree days would do to utility costs. I expected it to be sky high. well it turns out utilities were the biggest difference and it was Johnson County that had such a high utility rate.
