In the market for a used truck...

I know this has been done a thousand times, but with no search function I just decided to create my own thread.

I'm in the market for a used truck, my absolute top dollar is $20k.

Right now I have my choices narrowed down to a 2011 Ford F150 XLT (2WD) with 50k miles for $19300

http://springfield.craigslist.org/ctd/4939278622.html

And a 2007 Toyota Tundra Double Cab (4WD) with 81k miles for $18500

http://springfield.craigslist.org/cto/4932526426.html

The Toyota is one owner and supposedly has a clean title but I haven't checked yet.

Toyota and Ford are the only brands I'm interested in at the moment, but may look into a Nissan.

Do the two Ive posted seem like decent deals? Does anyone know of anything in the Springfield area that's better?

Why only Ford and Toyota?

If there's ice ever 2wd is a bad get.

that tundra sound pretty good

Arrowhead Thunder 03-19-2015 04:29 PM

almost too good

18500 for something with 81K miles seems super steep.

Do not go 2WD if it's your only vehicle. That's all I have to offer.

That's Toyota's absurd resale value for you.

Yeah the 2WD thing kind of had me worried. I figured it'd probably get better gas mileage though. I had a 2WD Ranger when I was in high school and any time the roads got bad I filled the back with snow to get better traction. :D

I have a 2005 Dodge Ram quad cab 4x4 I am thinking about selling. It only has 91k miles on it. It does have some rust above the rear wheel wells, but besides that it is rock solid.

I have a 2WD Dakota and even with a full load of firewood in the bed I still couldn't go up a hill. Luckily I have another vehicle to use when it snows.

yup, he'll still be able to sell it for 10k when it passes 200,000 miles. Makes it tempting to just buy a new one instead.

Buy a Dodge

**** Ford

TopJet2 03-19-2015 04:54 PM

My parents are selling their 2010 ford crew cab with 68000 miles for 18k. Hour away from Springfield
