RIP Tom Magliozzi (one of the Car Talk guys)
|
Sad day. Great show.
|
Which one was he? Click or Clack?
|
Oh shit... You mentioned NPR. This bastard is doomed for the DC.
|
I sort of think of the car talk guys as one of them the "main" speaker, who is sort of like the straight man and sounds a bit smarter (or at least more well spoken), and the other one as being a bit more comedy relief, and with an infectious laugh.
The one that died is the more comedic one. I had no idea which was which either, so I had to piece it together. http://s3.amazonaws.com/media.wbur.o...te-624x519.jpg <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/pYCB2atuIxI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Tom was 12 years older than Ray.

They have been in syndication or whatever for a couple years now. They apparently have quite a bit of material that they recorded but never aired which they are pulling out of the archive. Soemthing like 5 years worth of shows. |

I wasn't an entirely devoted fan, but if I were ever driving at the time when they might be on, you can bet that was where my dial was going to stick. And they had a way of doing that to almost anybody who scanned through the radio looking for something to listen to. That's when you're damn good. When it's YOU that attract a portion of your listeners, not necessarily your topic. |

Extorter thinks that this guy was a small town hick

Oh man, that sucks. One of my favorites. RIP
|
Damn. I would occasionally hear them on NPR. I first listened to them over 20 years ago when my sixth grade teacher mentioned them offhand. It was never appointment listening, but always funny and often informative. I had no idea they were off the air.

RIP. love the car talk show on Sundays
