Patriots will trade Logan Mankins to Buccaneers
 

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have acquired a guard, no not Richie Incognito, but rather a cornerstone of the New England Patriots.

FOX Sports has learned that the two teams have agreed to the terms of a trade that would send Patriots captain and six-time pro bowler Logan Mankins to the Bucs in exchange for a player and an undisclosed pick. A Patriots source said the deal is agreed upon, but they are still waiting to finalize the deal.

Mankins, entering his 10th season in the league, was a first-round pick by the Patriots in 2005 out of Fresno State. He made $5.7 million last season.
On the same day the Bucs brought in Incognito in for a visit, they got this deal done.

Pats got TE Tim Wright and an undisclosed draft pick.

Daaaaaaaamn. He's a NE cornerstone.

and you know the pick is at least a 2nd round, probably a 1st.

I doubt it.

I say at least a 3rd or 4th.

In a shot of irony, this move was surprisingly incognito.

We should send the Pats a 2nd rounder for Beliceks consulting services.

Richie is probably going to sign with NE

What am I missing here, why is Mankins so expendable?

Maybe they sign Richie anyways, to have 2 legit Guards?

Gronk's health maybe? Tim Wright is a passable tight end. I can also see Tampa Bay offering a draft pick that has more value than a 32 year old offensive guard.
