Forecasting the Future: 2014 Unknowns

Below is what beach tribe thinks.

Let's see what CP as a whole thinks.

I think we may take a step back at G, which is the least important position in football.

Outside of that, we are talking about..what. Replacing McCluster? How will ever manage to do that?
I See Bowe having a Monster year. Hell, AJ Jenkins is as good as McCluster.

We are going to get Something out of either, Kelce, or Cummings. Might not be much, but I'll bet it's more that K. Lewis provided.

The whole approach seems to be trusting in the drafted players.
I think Kush is going to contribute, maybe even allowing Hudson to move to G where I think he can really help out.

Houston is going to have a MONSTER season

I believe Smith will have a career season.

I think Catapano can contribute
I think we will get some help through the draft.

I KNOW that all of these things will not work out, but I believe some of them will.

Enough to, yes, improve the team.

Basically all the new and 2nd year players will have to fall flat on their faces for us to not have any chance at improving.

If half of the possible positive things that could happen , do, we will be improved.
If Dorsey has failed on on all those picks, and fails again this season, then we will in fact have the shit season so many people are predicting.
I'm just not ready to throw in the towel on two seasons worth of drafting yet.
Again, I know a lot of this stuff won't happen, but some of it will, and when it does, along with the continued development of our existing players we will be an improved football team.

Thats really not huge or unrealistic expectations.

Fisher better
Guards worse
Bowe similar
AJ > McCluster
Kelce won't contribute
Commings > Lewis (If healthy)
Houston similar
Alex 2014 < Alex 2013
Catapano won't contribute
3-4 draft picks won't contribute

In my most recent mock, I drafted a starting guard, a "starting" slot receiver, a DL to relieve Poe, and some developmental reserve talents at S, TE, and RB.

That's probably two contributors, and maybe a third if that DL comes along. But the remaining three picks will be third stringers.

Fisher WILL improve
OGs WILL NOT be better
Bowe WILL NOT be significantly better than last year
AJ Jenkins WILL NOT be an improvement over McCluster
Kelce WILL NOT be a solid contributor
Commings WILL be better than Lewis
Houston WILL NOT be significantly better than last year
Alex Smith WILL be better
Catapano WILL be a solid contributor
They WILL NOT get 3-4 legit contributors out of this draft

I think Jenkins has the potential to be better than dexter. A lot better actually.

Great thread.

Lightrise 03-31-2014 04:36 PM

I agree with the majority on every question.

Agreed, I was about to post the same thing... pretty good way to get peoples views "in writing" before the season.

Copying your post cuz I'm lazy...

Fisher WILL improve
OGs WILL be similar
Bowe WILL be better than last year because he sucked balls last year
Jenkins WILL be an improvement over McCluster because he fits the o better
Kelce WILL be a solid contributor but nothing world shaking
Commings WILL be better than Lewis (duh)
Houston WILL NOT be significantly better than last year
Alex Smith WILL be better
Catapano WILL be a solid contributor when he plays but that won't be often
They WILL NOT get 3-4 legit contributors out of this draft

He also has the possibility of not ever seeing the field...

I dunno, chiefs seem to be really high on him.

Strongside 03-31-2014 04:59 PM

Where is the Linkenbach option? I didn't see a Linkenbach option.

Agreed. He has a high potential to totally bust but if not I think he can be a better fit than Dex.

There appears to be a consensus that Commings will be better than Kendrick Lewis.

I'd like to see a control question about whether that fat woman on the Mike and Molly TV show would be better than Kendrick Lewis.
