Laptop tech help!

My laptop is being a little bitch lately and I'm trying to figure out some things to do to make it speed up.

I've heard of defragmentations and things like that. Does that help to return some of your PC's speed? I'd appreciate the help but in doing so please know that I don't know a damn thing about the technical aspect of computers so baby steps are required.

It's a shitty ass Compaq that I bought back in '09 that I've used for music, porn, school and random web browsing. Is it just standing on its last leg?

Tuneup Utilities is great for getting your PC in tiptop shape.

Nothing like a clean format. If it's that old then.. well.. time for an upgrade :D

Damn. I was hoping I wouldn't have to upgrade since I just use it for web browsing but what can ya do?

Thanks for the input.

Don't spend a bunch of money.

Format the drive and install Linux.

If all you're using it for is web browsing.

I'm running Linux on a laptop I bought in 1999. Works great, and still reasonably fast.

You can try Ccleaner - https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner.

CCleaner is the number-one tool for cleaning your Windows PC. It protects your privacy online and makes your computer faster and more secure. Easy to use and a small, fast download.

And its free.

Nope, but it has come in handy a couple of times.

Upgrading to Windows 8.1 could seems to be a bit faster than Vista or 7.

I know I was messing.

It looks like you copied and pasted that right from their website. All it was missing was the "PC World App of the Year" logo.

TheUte 03-13-2014 09:23 AM

Funny, I really did just copy and paste. I thought it was a better explanation.
