Oakland Coliseum visitor dugout is literally flooded in sewage

The Oakland Coliseum needs a makeover in the worst of ways.

Earlier this season, there was a sewage leak in the home, visitor and umpire locker rooms which sent a mass of players to change in the manger office as it was the lone place not saturated in nasty.

Then, just a few days ago we had more sewage issues, this time in the dugouts. It’s happened again and it’s the worst we’ve seen, literally knee deep.

Keep in mind here, the dugout is elevated. There are stairs that lead down into the clubhouse, which assuming you believe in the law of gravity, means what’s below the dugout is pretty much drenched in sewage.

Minnesota Twins pitcher Glen Perkins tweeted out this picture just minutes ago.

There’s no word on if they’ll be able to play a game this afternoon, though, considering the health hazards, it would obviously be safe to not do so.

It’s possible that the Athletics may push back the start of today’s afternoon game until this evening which would allow for some clean up.

I'd says its a pretty apt metaphor for both tennants there. Despite all the shit, the Athletics keep carrying on. The Raiders are just knee deep in shit.

whoman69 09-22-2013 08:22 AM

Gotta wonder what the clubhouse looks like.

How can they re-open with out the Health Department's approval? Bleach may be cheap, but the manhours at California prices would be unreal.

chefsos 09-22-2013 08:46 AM

I wonder sometimes how many people in Oakland are fans of both teams. It just seems incongruous to imagine a guy hanging all that black stuff up and then breaking out green and gold.

But I guess now, it'll be easy to spot 'em, because they'll all be dressed in brown, up to about knee level.

OrtonsPiercedTaint 09-22-2013 08:50 AM

It is probably not much of a relief that, that picture is probably of dirt washed in from beyond the 50.
