Tapes Reveal LBJ Knew But Never Spoke Out About Nixon's 'Treason'
Connor Simpson 13,980 Views Mar 16, 2013
Rumors and whispers of Richard Nixon's 'treason' -- sabotaging Vietnam peace talks to help his Presidential campaign -- have floated around for years, but newly released tapes from Lyndon Johnson's Presidency confirm that LBJ knew about Nixon's behaviour and didn't bother to report it. http://www.theatlanticwire.com/natio...treason/63188/ |
This is new information.

Nooooooooooooooo, nixon wouldn't have done such a thing...

I'm a lot more interested in knowing what LBJ was aware of during the outrageous murder of our leader in Dallas.

I find LBJ a completely fascinating individual. If I had to choose between he and Nixon as the meaner, nastier more dishonest person, I’d have to give LBJ the win .

Both of them are trash.

LBJ and Nixon were both in Dallas the day JFK was assassinated. Both of these guys were evil. More than half of the Vietnam combat deaths happened from 1968 to 1975, so to think this could have been avoided is maddening. Reagan did the same traitorous thing with the Iran Embassy Hostages. He made an "October Surprise" deal with the Iranians to hold them until after the 1980 election. The hostages were freed the same day Reagan was inaugurated, and he secretly sold them arms afterwards. Nice guy.

So if Nixon was guilty of Treason what would the Charge for LBJ and staff for covering up Treason? I find it very hard to believe LBJ would not take any opportunity to hurt a political enemy of his. Any opportunity.

Good overview of the story is here:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...s-treason.html LBJ wouldn't divulge how he learned about Nixon's torpedoing the peace talks, because: 1) He learned about it with secret FBI Wiretapes on the South Vietnamese Ambassador's phone. 2) He had already said he was not running for re-election. It affected Humphrey, not LBJ. 3) Nixon could have spilled the beans about LBJ's complicity in the JFK Assassination in Dallas. Dirty, dirty business. The 1960's was a very dirty political era in all shapes and forms. |
