Has anyone done a juice fast?
I have been battling migraines since I was in elementary school. They would come and go, but since high school I will usually get one every other day. On the pain level they are usually anywhere from a 7 to a 9. This past year I have been getting them every day. I have tried ever type of holistic type medicine (fever few etc.), I have tried everything over the counter you can get, and I have tired at least a handful of perscribed medications from my doctor. I asked him about a juice fast, because I watched an intriguing telelvision show regarding juicing, and I have read numerous articles. He told me that he would recommend giving it a try. He said the amount of processed foods I eat is most likely playing a major role in contributing to my inability to sleep at night and also my migraines.
I bought a $130 dollar juicer from Bed Bath and Beyond. I will be buying my goodies on thursday. I will start my 60 day juice cleanse on friday, because I don't work on saturday or sunday and I am sure I will be in the restroom quite a bit. Anyways, I am hoping this works for me, because these past two or three years have been rough. Family issues, personal issues, weight and health issues have made me feel like an old man. I am hoping to kind of rebuild my body and take care of it like I should have been doing. All that just to see if anyone here has any good juice recipies? Or any advice on juicing? I have already stocked up on aids water and anti-freeze and the aids tree in the backyard is already on fire. |
60 days is a long time, and even the dude who started this whole fad would advise against you doing it for that long. Make sure you are being monitored by your doctor every couple of weeks. Seriously.

t dubya or whatever the **** his name is on here now has. Not sure what he thinks of it now, but he was really raving about it last year.

60 days is way too long. My advice, get a Vitamix and blend that shit. You'll still get all the plant fiber, which will keep you full a lot longer.

I bought a Nutri-bullet and I love it. Apple, pear, spinach, kale, honey, cayenne pepper usually once a day. |
$12 a day for the fruits and veggies is what you can expect to spend at a bare minimum. I've done some homework on this.

I don't know if you are a spiritual person, but I have done some fasts and when you start drinking of food you can reflect on God or yourself or do whatever and it helps get your mind off of food. You will have some brain Fog and it sometimes doesn't pass and it sucks.

All very valid and good points. My doctor said I would have to have blood work done every ten days to ensure I am getting the nutrients I need. I did some looking and saw that you can expect anywhere from $12-15 a day. I know that is really expensive, but I cannot handle these migraines anymore, so I am willing to try this. I will at least give it a try for three weeks. They said it can take 10-15 days to completely purge your system. Trust me, it will take that long to rebuild this old truck. |

Did a modified 60 day program last year and felt great. Need to do it again as I've put on weight and have been getting sick constantly.
I had a juice for breakfast and lunch, then ate a sensible dinner. Lost 19 pounds and felt great. My favorite juice was simple - carrots, apples and ginger root. |

Check this author out. I had prostate problems and started jamminng zink vitamins and foods down like candy and the symptoms dropped way down. She backs up her findings with scientific data and studies. I read "Foods that Heal" copyright 1989 and realy liked the way it was organized by symptom.
