John Kerry: Secretary of State?

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...yJQ&refer=home

"Massachusetts Senator John Kerry is lobbying for secretary of State, although Obama has been cautioned that would be received negatively by many Republicans."

What do you think about this? I remember Kerry's "passing the global test" line from the debates. I wonder if Obama subscribes to the same test.

I saw that earlier and I have mixed feelings about that.

The one I am kind of happy about is the report that Robert Kennedy Jr is going to head the EPA. Now that I like because he will go after companies who are polluting and have been getting away with it for the last 8 years.

I like to

The first news on Barack Obama's cabinet is out:
President-elect Barack Obama is strongly considering Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to head the Environmental Protection Agency, a Cabinet post, Democratic officials told Politico.
...
The selection of Kennedy would be a shrewd early move for the new presidential team. Obama advisers said the nomination would please both Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.).

It also would raise the profile of the EPA, which would help endear Obama to liberals who may be disappointed on other issues important to the Democratic left because of budget restrictions.

The EPA enforces clean air and clear water laws. Kennedy, an environmental lawyer and son of the late senator and attorney general Robert F. Kennedy, has long championed a cleaner water supply for New York City.

As an officer and attorney for the environmental watch group Riverkeeper, Kennedy has taken on governments and companies for polluting the Hudson River and Long Island Sound.

I think Kerry would be a fine choice.

So is Emanuel going to be the Chief of Staff? I like the idea of Hagel as Sec of Defense.

Gates is almost definitely sticking around.

Please God No.

Bill Richardson is in the running too

jiveturkey 11-05-2008 11:56 AM

Either way I want to see some repubs n the cabinet.

Gates would work.

Dept of VA or Homeland Security might be others areas to target a repub for.

Um I heard he wanted to off Dick Lugar but Lugar doesn't want it...

Taco John 11-05-2008 12:04 PM

I'd be suprised if Hillary's name doesn't enter the fray at some point.
