I hope you raise your troll game for this coming season. If you're going to do it, you might as well at least be good at it like PB.

Who was it that had the good rumor mill on the players leaving? Nailed a couple before they said (like Greene) and had heard that Svi was checking out as well. Wanted to see if there was any update on the Svi rumor.

saphojunkie 04-11-2016 11:31 AM

Shay Wildeboor, who runs the KU Rivals site, is not just giving opinion but outright predicting Kansas. He is certainly making it seem like he has very good reason to do so.

For those who don't know, Shay is actually incredibly reserved when it comes to leaking info. He knew about several players about to commit, had write-ups already prepped with quotes from staff and the kid, but didn't want to steal the spotlight.

If he's saying this stuff, then I tend to believe there is OPEN talk that Jackson has already told KU they have the nod.

I picked it up on another BBS. So far, the word seems to be that Svi is coming back. Perhaps watching Selden and Greene leave made it that much clearer where his PT comes from.

Josh Jackson might start from Day 1 if he comes here, but there's no doubt Svi is first man off the bench in that case, and I wouldn't be surprised if he opens the season as the starter.

Having said that...

Svi is actually YOUNGER as a junior than Josh Jackson. Svi might be the most well-designed NBA prospect ever. He's a junior in college that is essentially a high school senior. Usually you have to choose between polish and upside. Not this time, though.

BWillie 04-11-2016 11:37 AM

I've heard, HEARD!! okay, that Svi may consider going pro or going to Europe if, and only if, we get Josh Jackson.

Ceej 04-11-2016 11:46 AM

Regardless of his choice I can appreciate he's doing it via Twitter.

Yep. When Selden left that opened up a wide open spot for Josh to step into immediately. No sitting on the bench for him. Good choice for him. We are a legitimate title contender again next year.

BWillie 04-11-2016 07:36 PM

This is all what we had figured, but good to hear it is legit. We will have the best backcourt in the country next year. We really need someone to be able to score in the post, that is the only thing that worries me. Lucas scores off of others and as a garbage man. Bragg is a midrange threat but needs to work on his interior moves & strength/mass. Azubuike is really intriguing to me...I really like him for our system. HUGE kid, 7'6'' wingspan, and could really push people around down there.

jimidollar 04-11-2016 07:47 PM

Solid pick up.

I sure hope Udoka pushes Lucas out. Lucas was good this year but we were desperate for anything inside. The clips of Udoka look like he could be a force in the paint.

MSU and Zona fans are, of course, spewing salty shit at Jackson and his mom on Twitter. UK fans even getting in on it. Just because a kid chose to go play college ball somewhere else. Sad.

Lucas was almost the entire reason we were good defensively. He also developed into the near equivalent of Rico Gathers from a rebounding perspective. He won't be pushed out.

Udoka is young, like Svi when he came here initially (though Svi was a litlle younger). He is very raw, closer to Cheik than Embiid. Most likely to come along slowly but will get more opportunity with fewer big men on the roster than last year.

I think he'll be more of a contributor than Diallo because 1) there is more minutes available for the bigs this year and 2) he's already a big body that make space in the paint.

Embiid was raw as hell when he started but progresses like nobody I've ever seen.

They say the kid plays with an attitude - which I love.

Hoping Coleby can turn into something productive. I just dont see Lightfoot producing/playing much his freshman year. Hudy needs to get a hold of him.

Lightfoot is a four year player who grew up a KU fan. My best guess is kid will ride the bench and bang girls two at a time on Mass street for a few years, then come in as a redshirt junior a la Lucas and go from 2 min per game to 25.

Thomas Robinson is finishing his degree this summer. Lots of players continued taking classes after bolting to the NBA. The fact that Bill Self sold JJ's mom on the fact that they will still look after him, help him schedule classes and stay on track to graduate after he goes to the NBA tells her that they care about him as 'more than a basketball player."

As opposed to a Calipari, whose sales pitch is "You don't care about college. Let me get you to the NBA and you're homefree."

Winning the same amount of tournament games since '04 as your "greatest coach in American sports history," Coach K, only goes so far I suppose. Poor Bail.

Svi's a much better NBA prospect than Selden, Greene or Diallo. With Mason, Graham and Jackson presumably taking up a lot of his minutes now, it's probably in his best interest to do. Too bad because we could have used him.

I'm with you on Greene, because he is slow. He can hit a corner 3 but won't ever do anything else or play defense. But Selden and Diallo look so much more athletic, to me anyway. If the argument that Selden's prospects are poor because he only occasionally showed off his amazing skills, I can't argue with that one. But I would think Diallo's ceiling would be pretty high.

The announcers kept talking about what a great prospect Svi is. I'm not claiming they are wrong, but his 3 point shooting was inconsistent. I never thought his dribbling against pressure defense or his drive to the basket looked all that great against college competition. I wish him the best, but am puzzled what NBA scouts see. If he goes this year, where do you suppose he will be drafted?
