I'll see it. It took me a long time to actually like the original film. I hated it as a kid.
|
Yes! I'll be seeing that. Opens the day before my birthday. :)

It doesn't fit either of the criteria. -Is the nature of the item interchangeable? -Is the nature of the item irrelevant to the plot? If the answer to both is 'yes' it's a macguffin. They're a long way from the contents of the briefcase in pulp fiction (we don't even know what it was, so obviously it doesn't MATTER what it was), or the diamonds in snatch (which could have been anything of high monetary value). |
I can't wait for this!
I'm glad they waited as long as they did, better chance it will be a solid movie. |
My guess is, Ford shows up sometime in the final 10 minutes

Nice.
|
This has easily been my most anticipated film of this year (for quite some time) The trailers have been aces . Just curious about the running time...I've heard/read its set at 163 minutes . Not that is a bad thing at all because I trust the director. Has anyone else read conflicting reports?
|
Damn, Jared Leto killed that.
This is going to be great. |
Some film critics have already seen this and are blown away by it. Some of them even calling it a "masterpiece". God I can't wait!

Villeneuve is a beast. Really looking forward to this
|
Looks like a must-see on the Big screen.
|
Sooooo, what’s the verdict?
|
I'm going to see this tonight with the wife. Pretty pumped.
|
I plan on seeing it at a matinee tomorrow. Can't wait.
|
Watched the Final Cut of the original last night.
Gonna see it on the Grand Screen with DTSx tomorrow night. |
I enjoyed it a lot. Not as much as the original, but that's a tough act to follow.
The good: Well made and well acted. Obviously breathtaking special effects. Thoughtful story that, while a times bit predictable, takes a nice twist at the end. I particularly liked the relationship between the main character and his girlfriend, which I won't elaborate on. Enough nods to the original to be nostalgic without being duplicative. And look for Part III, because it definitely sets up another sequel. The not so good: It was probably a bit too long and a little too in love with itself. The score was often too loud and at times a bit jarring - I found myself missing Vangelis' work quite a bit. That's probably my biggest complaint. And the primary villain paled in comparison to Hauer's Roy Batty, but again, those are big shoes to fill. Leto was excellent as usual, but I wish he'd been in the movie a bit more. Certainly a better follow-up to the originals than the new Alien stuff is. Anyway, it mostly rocked. Definitely passed the I-Don't-Feel-Cheated test. I recommend it. |
|
Freaking loved it. Plan on seeing it again sometime next week so I can pick up things I missed. Its nearly 3 hours long but it didn't feel like it at all. I thought it was perfectly paced.
|
Loved it. Our tickets got screwed up so I saw it on a normal screen. Want to go back to see it in IMAX
|
The wife barely remembered the original so we watched it after we got home.
It really is amazing how well it's held up. |
It's really sad that there hasn't been more interest in this movie.
I guess there weren't enough 'sploshuns and flying robots. :shake: |

Anybody else prefer the workprint version of the original? I've always though that the unicorn dream ruined the other cuts.

I think WB gambled it was a more popular property than it actually is. Not judging it's quality, just it's popularity amongst the masses. |

But the studio knew that this film wouldn’t survive the summer releases, so they released it in October, knowing that it wouldn’t be a box office hit but a possible awards contenders, which would push DVD, On Demand and streaming sales. |

I saw the movie and loved it. I hope the low numbers does not scare away a Dune movie because it will have a similar target audience.

They really should let me approve the script, too, because if anybody ****s it up again I'm going on a homicidal rampage. :# |
I thought it was very good and visually stunning. The wife didn't care for it but that probably had a lot to do with the unnecessary length of it.

****ing epic. No other way to describe it.
Wow. Just wow. So glad I re-watched the first one before seeing it. It is not necessary, but I feel like it really enhanced the experience. Ryan Gosling was excellent...wait, did I just ****ing say that? Whole cast was great, script was great...just a fantastic sci-fi masterpiece all around. |
At the movies right now. Guess I'll be THAT guy. It's long and boring as ****. I've had to step out the theater twice (including now) just to walk around and take a break from it.

Although the original is 2 hours, it's still pretty slow paced. These are not action films by any means, although they do contain a few action scenes |
The budget is damn near 200 million dollars. A shame its flopping at the box office though(no way it'll make back its budget) . oh well, I applaud the studio for giving the director the chance to make this film .

It'll at least break even, then earn additional revenues On Demand, Streaming and DVD/Blu Ray sales. |
Will be going this weekend. Based on king's dislike, I'm sure I'll love it.

Another they did that was good but flopped was 'Cloud Atlas' |

The AI girl got way too much screen time. I know that plot thread is there for a reason (to draw a parallel to replicants and what it is that makes someone human) but they played that card a little too much, got tiring.
(without spoilers) wasn't it incredibly stupid of them to visit the girl at the end? Wouldn't be hard for anyone to figure out why Decker and him stopped there when the entire point of everything was to keep it a secret.. |
A remake clearly made by a Blade Runner fan that wasn't watered down for the masses.
****ing amazing. |

As I said before, the original still holds up remarkably well and is better than the sequel. But the sequel is also awesome. |

It's been years and years since I've sat down and watched the original front to back. I'll cue it up before I go check out 2049.

Movie will end up between $80-$90mm stateside and foreign of another $100-$120mm.
The production was last in line so the $110-$130mm actually deposited will become around $65-$80mm for the producers. Even with ancillaries they'll end up losing $40-$50mm on this one. |
I tried to temper my expectations going in to see this. I was unable to, and I was still blown away. Will be going to see again next weekend. The visual and audio experience was just insane. This is the movie of the year for me. Keep Star Wars (loved TFA, but still not over TFA shitfest). Give me more Blade Runner.

Enjoyed this alot. The first hour drags a bit but the visuals and story were good. Saw BR Final Cut last night so I definitely enjoyed seeing this. Imax sound and visuals were awesome. Good story, some Action but I can see the average movie goer getting bored. One guy next to me left after 30 minutes
