Just saw it. Loved it.

I may go see it again. Try to pick up on stuff I missed.

Seconded.

Is it a good idea to watch the original to brush up on the story?

Yes. There are three characters from the first one who show up in this, and background on the Tyrell corp is good. They also use two audio clips from the first movie.

Couldn't hurt. I've seen it enough times that I didn't need to. Although I did watch the original with the wife after we got home from seeing the new one.

As I said before, the original still holds up remarkably well and is better than the sequel. But the sequel is also awesome.

I watched the final cut of the first one a couple of days before I saw it, and I thought it enhanced the experience.

It's been years and years since I've sat down and watched the original front to back. I'll cue it up before I go check out 2049.

I saw it at the Alamo for the first time in years awhile back. While half drunk. Awesome experience. ROFL

Movie will end up between $80-$90mm stateside and foreign of another $100-$120mm.

The production was last in line so the $110-$130mm actually deposited will become around $65-$80mm for the producers. Even with ancillaries they'll end up losing $40-$50mm on this one.

I tried to temper my expectations going in to see this. I was unable to, and I was still blown away. Will be going to see again next weekend. The visual and audio experience was just insane. This is the movie of the year for me. Keep Star Wars (loved TFA, but still not over TFA shitfest). Give me more Blade Runner.
