People still watch these things?

I've been catching up with Fargo. I only have the finale to watch. That's a damn good show. Martin Freeman and Bily Bob Thornton are really good.

I'm watching the first season of Orange Is The New Black....and while it is certainly funny at times....I'm very surprised to see it labeled a comedy with the like of Big Bang Theory!
really!?

I don't watch awards show, but I do like to see what gets nominated. This list is decent. It will be interesting to see if there is any erosion in the breaking bad and mad men devotion. I am not sure I like the season splits that amc does that keep their big shows qualifying into the following year. Not that it really matters as winning isn't really that important anymore, but some of them are like auto-nominations. I didn't think Christina Hendricks was nearly as good as she had been in previous seasons of Mad Men, and I don't watch Modern Family, but it seems over nominated to me when shows like silicon valley are overlooked for performances. Is Modern Family really that good? And Downton Abby is loads of fun, but an auto-nom at this point. I also don't watch Scandal so I can't judge that inclusion, I assume it is good like Good Wife is, but I was surprised Good Wife was left out.

Once again, the most talented actress on TV isnt even getting nominated because the emmies have something against Science Fiction. Tatiana Maslany was head and shoulders above any actress on TV this past year. I guess I am rooting for Lizzy Caplan for the actress in a Drama series. She was outstanding.

Dramedy. Same with Nurse Jackie. Honestly I think studios submit these shows to comedy because they know there is no way they would get a nom going against real dramas.

And holy shit, can we just have a 6 way tie for Lead actor in a drama? Those are all deserving actors.

Baby Lee 07-10-2014 11:25 AM

First trans Emmy nom.

ragedogg69 07-10-2014 11:36 AM

Where is Andy Samberg? He WON a golden globe...

Thank god Jim Parsons is now in auto-nom mode. The guy has been playing himself for the last 7 years and has 4 emmys for it. What a joke.

Peter Dinklage vs. Aaron Paul for best supporting actor. **** me.

I'll take Aaron Paul in that one. It's tough though.

I like everything you've been saying in this thread except for this. I don't think Jeff Daniels' performance is anywhere near the level of the other nominees. I don't really think Spacey's performance is either, on account of how hammy and lacking in depth it is, but he is entertaining.

ragedogg69 07-10-2014 02:34 PM

While I would love to swap Sheen for Daniels, I would say that Daniels was the only good thing about that season of the Newsroom. Also, I am pretty sure Spacey's nom is from season 1 not the sub par season 2.

Nope. Spacey was nominated last year for season 1. This is his second consecutive nomination for Frank Underwood.

Nice to see Episodes nominated for something.

McConaughey should win.

Jeff Daniels was great in The Newsroom.
