The Pay Chris Jones Thread

Yes it needs its own thread.

Pay Chris Jones, don't let him walk. How important is he? Post your reasons in this thread, I'll start with something that really should be enough to convince you:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Double team rate as a defensive tackle (x) by pass rush win rate as a defensive tackle (y). <br><br>PRWR = rate pass rusher beats blocker in 2.5 seconds.<br><br>ESPN metrics, NFL Next Gen Stats data. <a href="https://t.co/H6XmXgRJoh">pic.twitter.com/H6XmXgRJoh</a></p>&mdash; Seth Walder (@SethWalder) <a href="https://twitter.com/SethWalder/status/1205222343120957449?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">December 12, 2019</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Only Aaron Donald and Jarret are doubled more and nobody wins versus a double team more often than Jones.

Pay the man.

Yep in the beginning I was against signing Jones long term but as this season has played out you have to pay him. Give him his 20 mil a year and never look back.

Absolutely This ^^^^^^

So long as it doesn’t interfere in any way shape or form with paying PM I'm all for it.

I agree, just concerned with that much money tied up in the DL considering other needs. Let's say you can get a 1st and 3rd in a trade, does that along with the extra cap room to use elsewhere at all offset his contribution? I certainly don't want to lose him, but pretty soon the team has to start making tough decisions with Mahomes' contract coming up.

Until next week when he allows a 20 yard run up the gut. Then you’ll flip like you always do.

Salary cap is a myth and only there for when the teams need an easy excuse for not signing or cutting a player.

Tag, shop, and extend if you don’t get a great return.

Mahomie 12-13-2019 02:18 PM

I did my part and bought his jersey. :D

Setsuna 12-13-2019 02:25 PM

Terrible idea. But I don't know anything so....pay away!

SuperChief 12-13-2019 02:27 PM

DL like that don't grow on trees. He's invaluable to our team, both on the field and in the locker room. Pay him.

Rasputin 12-13-2019 02:47 PM

I was hoping they would keep Powe around but they didn't so I'm hoping we keep Jones because it seems like wasting time and energy developing draft picks. We need to reap the benefits of keeping and building continuity especially in the trenches.

We would take another step backwards if we let Jones walk.

Red Dawg 12-13-2019 03:18 PM

He is a bad ass. I don't know how this gets done but they need to do everything they can to keep him. We do have other needs.
