Play Ball would have at least made sense

Roughly half of the teams don't have a slogan. That doesn't necessarily mean "winner" teams do without and "loser" teams always have one to try to sell tickets, for example, the Red Sox, Dodgers, Cubs, Giants, and Tigers always seem to have a slogan.

I'd prefer if the Royals went without a slogan, I like to think that our highlighting the official and unofficial slogans on top of this thread is a little protest against having team slogans for silly marketing reasons, but thats just me.

"Not Our Time" is a better marketing slogan....

1976: Star Spangled Summer
1977: Super Summer
1978: Catch Royal Mania
1979: Catch Royal Mania: What the Good Times Are
1980/1: We’re Where You Want to Be!
1982: Go for the Action
1983: Turn on the Action
1984: Something Special in the Air
1985: You’ve Got a Hit on Your Hands
1986: The Thrill of It All
1987: Get in the Swing of it!
1988: A Major League Attraction
1989: It’s a Hit
1990: Catch the Thrill
1991: Turn on the Good Times
1992: It’s Here
1993: 25 Years
1994: For the Fun of It All!
1995: Bring It On!
1996: Get in the Game
1997: Come on Home
1998: This…is Hardball
1999: Be a Part of it All
2000/1: You Gotta Love These Guys!
2002: Join the Fun!
2003: Your Hometown Team/Believe!
2004: Together We Can
2005: It’s All About Royals Baseball
2006: Your KC Royals
2007: True. Blue. Tradition.
2008: New. Blue. Tradition.
2009: You Belong at The K/40th Anniversary
2010: It All Happens Here
2011: Major League Moments
2012: Our Time
2013: Come to Play

heh, kind of interesting.....but really kind of pointless.....do all teams use slogans?

As of 2 years ago, 16 of them did.

There's no rhyme or reason to it, old ancient franchises, and new expansion teams, winners and losers, have used team slogans or not used team slogans.

I wish the Royals would stop, even though a slight majority do.

1 hit outing

@goldbergkc

Very cool to watch standing ovation in Mexico as Luis Mendoza departs after 7.1IP. Replaced by former Royal Dennis Reyes.

ChiefMojo 02-07-2013 06:06 AM

If I have read things right, it seems we are looking at Mendoza at long relief right now correct? He will get a shot I guess for the 5th spot but at this moment the Royals have him in the pen. Of course there is always injures or players not playing up to ability... so there is a good chance he will see starts this season. Just kind of sad that right now the main two names fighting out for the 5th spot is Hochevar and Chen but I'm sure we are waiting for someone like Duffy to come back later in the season to replace. Lets just hope somehow both Davis and Hochevar perform at the #4 and #5 spots.

I won't delete the post. My shame is public.

Sorry for the confusion. I just thought the lyrics were so fitting.

That's what I've gathered as well. I just don't understand why Chen would be slotted in ahead of Mendoza.

He'd be the only lefty in the rotation.

I couldn't care less about that as a starter....

You start a guy that is unproductive because he's lefty over a guy that's productive and a righty? That's absurd.

Edit: And on par for this organization.
