And it's not 1/3rd of the video if you find one, and they're all three the same thing.

I've never not been able to find a video on YouTube. Plus, it's not like YouTube is the only option. Vimeo and other video services provide HTML5 compatible video.

Ok, try this one

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsLq9rnnTCM

OR search for "beautiful south a song for whoever"

Can you find the ACTUAL video for this?

(I can give you hundreds of examples if you need...)

btw.. the song I just used as an example was #2 on the UK charts in 1989 so it's not exactly the most obscure... the one I used as an example before was #1 in 1990

Try this one...

OR search for "Perfect 10 - The Beautiful South"

Again, I can watch the actual video, can your iPad?

(once again this song charted at #2 in the UK in 1998)

Here they come!

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Acer+-+I...onia&cp=1&lp=1

Acer Iconia at $449

http://www.thetoshibatablet.com/

Toshiba usually is very aggressive with pricing, so I imagine it will be in the $450 range as well...

Looks cool. Does it do youtube or not? Also, can you control if with a laptop or iPhone instead of the remote? That's one of the big things I liked about my friend's apple tv. That and being able to stream my iTunes library to it and thus to the good speakers in my house.

Well this has been a good thread it has gone from "durrrr who would want a big iphone" to "there are like a hundred videos on the internet you cant see on the ipad!"

This is from a month ago. The iPad 2 sold over a million units opening weekend. But there's no reason for people to buy them, remember that.

No, those links do not work, but I can still find the video.

Yes, you can control it with an iapp. You can get a channel for YouTube with it.

Where are you finding the video to play on an iPad?

And regardless of finding it by jumping through other hoops, you now see my point. These are the typical things that frustrate me and make me loathe the YouTube app (android version included).

These are just a few examples off the top of my head.. I'm pretty certain I could provide thousands more if necessary.

Open Skyfire, search for video, play video.

Eh, I guess. But considering there are hundreds of millions (if not more) videos out there, finding a few examples that don't work is a pretty small percentage.

But they aren't just a few examples, they are indicative of a much bigger data set. If you can't find a video for a song that was #2 in the UK... you KNOW you are missing a ton more. It's not like I went for something that was crazy obscure.

Silock 04-10-2011 10:40 PM

But I did find it . . . Couldn't play it on the YouTube app, but it was playable on the device.

It would be different if it just WASN'T THERE, but that's not the case.

You played it using an app that serves flash content as h.264 video... you do see how ass backward that is right? An app you had to pay extra for. (I also wouldn't be at all surprised to see YouTube block them in the near future.)

I expect to never hear you complain about an Android user jumping through hoops to get certain functionality.

I don't care HOW it works. I care THAT it works. And yes, I paid for that app, just like every other non-free app I have paid for. Are you suggesting that if I were on an Android OS, I'd never have to pay for an app to get some desired functionality?

Jumping through hoops? Skyfire is my primary web browser. It's no different that if I were on my computer and opened Chrome to view it. The fact that a server translates the video for me is absolutely irrelevant because it doesn't require me to do anything. See video, tap video. That's hardly jumping through hoops.

If it were jumping through hoops, it would be something like Jailbreaking just to watch some video. That's easy, but it's still a hoop. This is just an app that serves multiple purposes.

I also bought Goodreader for PDF files, even though I could read PDF files in Safari. I prefer the way Goodreader functions. Again, not a hoop. It's just a program.

I don't think I've ever complained about Android users having to jump through hoops to get functionality. If I did, I don't recall. But why would they have to? Everyone knows that Android plays Flash, gives you free handys under the table and cooks you breakfast when it's done. What other functionality could one possibly need?

I don't think you have complained, not that I recall.

And you have to pay for the handys... although I hear that Amazon will soon offer one free per day if you buy their upcoming Android tablet!
