Are we possibly overanalyzing what Clark said and all he means is that they don't think anyone in this class is as good as RG3 or Luck, but that we might take a qb that..." or just taking a player who can really help you upgrade.”

People don't over analyze on CP.

I looked at this a couple years ago and the odds of finding a franchise QB are about equal if you

a) draft a QB in the first round

or

b) use all you picks in rounds 2 through 7 on QBs.

Rain Man did an analysis a few weeks ago about how often the first QB taken in the draft turns out to be the best QB in the draft. More often than not, it does. That means General managers possess some level of skill in judging which QB is the best. Since we have the first pick, we are in the unique position of having our choice of QBs. If we wait, or trade down, the chances are we will miss out on the best QB in this year's crop.

I mean exactly what is the brain trust's plan to get a franchise QB if they don't take one first overall this year? Will that plan give the Chiefs better odds of getting a franchise QB than simply doing the obvious thing of taking one with the first overall pick?

It's one thing to sign an Alex Smith in free agency.

I don't like that move but that move alone won't have me jumping ship.

You use the most important 1st round draft pick (arguably) in the history of the franchise on a LT or ****ing D lineman and you might as well paint billboards that ****ing day that say "NEXT YEAR."

Is that even debatable?

I think he'd love to hear Phat Andy say he's in love with a QB at no 1.

I also think he's smart enough to be open to a reeruned trade allowing us move down and still get our guy.

I don't think it will happen.

I don't think he believes it will happen.

But I think he's still playing the "meh" game at 1 in hopes someone will chug some purple drank on draft day...

I agree. I think it would make Clark's year if he heard that from Andy. In the end I don't think the Chiefs know what they are doing yet. They still have to meet all the players ect. Everyone used to think Clark didn't give a **** and now what he says on the radio is taken as official front office belief.

OK, you care about the Chiefs. I get that. You're a pretty well-informed fan and you have strong feelings about what they should do in the draft. I get that too.

But your post reeks of arrogance and self-delusion. You aren't part of a group of "men" who can tell Clark Hunt to back the ****. You don't have any work to do.

I want the Chiefs to draft Geno Smith. But I think Clark Hunt has done a hell of a job the last month of purging the cancer from the organization and hiring great people. Give him a little ****ing credit and don't act like a total douche if the Chiefs decide to pass on Geno Smith. I swear, I haven't seen a goup of posters so ****ing obsessed with a college quarterback since Mecca and the other drafturbaters swore up and down that the Chiefs were total ****ing morons for not drafting Mark Sanchez.

I forget, how is Sanchez working out again?

Geno Smith obviously has much better credentials and a much better skillset than Sanchez did. But he's not a sure thing. Lots of guys look like absolute studs running the spread offense in college, yet turn out to be busts.

Now go ahead and say you were simply speaking rhetorically and you don't personally believe that you as an individual are part of that group of men you referred to. That's obvious. I just get a little tired of the negativity around here sometimes. 100% negativity towards Scott "Team Killer" Polio is fine. He earned it. But Clark Hunt is busting his ass trying to do the right things, and he deserves better.

Go **** yourself.

It's not just Geno, you ****ing moron. I don't know how many times I have to state it on this ****ing place. Geno is MY preference. But I'm not going to lambast Reid and Dorsey if they take Wilson at #1. I'm also not going to be angry with Barkley. I'm trusting the braintrust of Reid + Dorsey to make the right call on the QB in this draft. We have the #1 overall pick, so I look forward to their pick of any QB in the draft.

It's been posted a billion times on this place the shitty draft value that is represented by taking a non QB in the top 10 of this draft. This is a putrid draft to do so, especially if you're the Chiefs who already have a LT and TWO good pass rushers. If the supposed "brilliant" NFL minds we hired at One Arrowhead pass on a QB and take Lotulelei or one of the DEs, I'll be ****ing pissed. If they draft a ****ing offensive lineman, I'll be LIVID. There is zero excuse for that kind of bone-headed bullshit. And I don't care WHO THE HELL is the #1 QB in that draft. It could be Landry ****ing Jones and nothing but OTs worth the #1 overall pick. That is inexcusable for any franchise.

And look, I'm pretty positive on the Reid hiring. A lot more than most people on here. He was my #1 coach that I wanted because he's such a QB guy. I'm VERY happy with the Dorsey hiring. But I don't know if these guys will work out. I was a guy who drank the Pioli kool-aid pretty hardcore in 2009, and my reward was Matt Cassel and Tyson ****ing Jackson. I'm not ****ing falling for that shit again. I can smell draft idiocy a mile away now. And if I get the faintest WHIFF of Cassel/Jackson idiocy, there's going to be hell to pay

Go anal **** your family.

NJChiefsFan 02-02-2013 11:43 AM

The Geno supporters have constantly been labeled as "Geno or bust" when it really isn't that way.

spanky 52 02-02-2013 12:00 PM

I'll defer to Dorsey and Reid. For some reason I trust them. And I use to despise Clark Hunt. Not anymore. Let's see how this all plays out.

Pasta Little Brioni 02-02-2013 12:02 PM

We "deferred" to Polio too when he went with Cassel.

spanky 52 02-02-2013 12:08 PM

I hear what you're saying PGM but I think this time Clark and company know they can and must hit a home run so to speak.

Pasta Little Brioni 02-02-2013 12:10 PM

True, but the thought of the trio of Jekyll, Alex Smith, and Glennon make me vomit in my mouth quite a bit.

Who is Reid's Cassel? You know, the QB he'll stick with no matter how poorly be plays.
