We just bought a house so we will need a variety of things such as tools, lighting, and furniture.

Here a couple of good sites for "leaked" ads.

Feed the corporate giant... Wal*Mart is deciding the next president right now. That's why Obama uses the term "Rollback" in his speeches.

I subscribe to bfads. I don't do a lot of shopping myself on Black Friday, but I typically help friends look for deals. I've added these links to the OP. Thanks!

I hear that sentiment. In the past I have been to the crazy sales which usually center around electronics. Those are the ones where you have to get there really early and wait forever. Last year I got a GPS for the fiance for just over $40 at Nebraska Furniture Mart. Regular was like $120. I know people go nuts for the TVs as well.

That being said I am happy that this year I don't need to go to the really crazy electronics stores. We are getting married next April and we are closing on our first house at the end of this month so I will be looking for all kinds of home type things as well as tools and paint supplies. I know Macy's has a nice 17 piece Faberware cutlerly set that will only be $30 instead of $100. Obviously not the best but good enough for us. That will allow me to take the cutlery set off our registry as well.

Wal Mart just announced they are opening at 8PM on Thanksgiving Day. I think eventually retailers will just open all day on Thanksgiving. Kind of sad.

Agreed. I think it's cool that different stores are opening at different times, but I don't think any of them should open before midnight.

EDIT: Just saw where Target is opening at 9pm on Thanksgiving.

Last year Amazon.com has some really good deals on both DVD's and Blu-ray. I am hoping they will have some good sales again this year, I would love to load up on Blu-rays for cheap.

Also, I think you can order dvd's and blu-rays through Wal-Mart's site and select site to store and then just pick them up.

Last year, some of the stores opened at midnight and some at 4-5 am. That sucked. I definitely don't like them starting on T-day, though.

Does anyone know if induction cooktops are going to be introduced this season?

They're the cooktops that pour energy into certain types of cookware instead of heating an element. That way you're just heating the food itself. You pull the pan away and the unit is cool to the touch. You spill something from the pan and it doesn't cook onto the cooking surface. Lots of safety and convenience pluses to it.

Up until now, there are big $2K full cooktops, portables for professional chefs, and units of unknown capabilities you have to mail order.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Induction_cooking

mr. tegu 11-11-2012 09:32 AM

If you check those links in the OP you will see more than a few stores are opening at 8 pm on Thanksgiving. What they are doing is opening at that time so people can get the non doorbuster but still good sale items. The limited quantity stuff wont be part of the early openings and the ads will say "starting at 4 am" or something similar for the "doorbusters."

I think this is a good thing because it will prevent people who don't want to buy the doorbusters from adding to the large numbers and mob like crowds of those that are going after the limited quantities or crazy doorbuster items. Also it allows people to not have to wait outside overnight.

I have an induction heater that I use at the shop. It will heat metal in a couple seconds.

Mini ductor iirc. I paid about five hundred bucks for it and I love it. it has little adapters different sizes to fit different bolts. But it is still pretty hot after you move it away from the bolt.

A co-worker was telling me how K-Mart is selling 32" LCD's for $97. The catch is the doors open at 6 am Thanksgiving morning.

So, if you feel like fighting off other crazies in a battel royale for a limited number of cheap TV's before you have to feed and put up with the rest of your asshole family, this may be the thing for you!

They are barely worth $80.

Oh, the banner items certainly aren't but last year wife got me some XBox games half price. They were pretty smokin hot, but yeah, unless they stock it normally, I'm not touching it.

I learned that the hard way. A few years back I got my fiancé a laptop with all the good sounding specs but it wasn't an item they always had or ever. I researched it and knew but I went with it anyways. 2 continuous frustrating years later the thing has sucked the whole time.

I am going after a 18 volt DeWalt cordless drill with two batteries, charger, and case. All the major suppliers are pricing it at $99 regular price $189-200 if you want it right now.

Its not about people not having patience. It's about keeping up with the competition. Kmart started the being open on Thanksgiving which has created this entire problem. If everyone is going to other stores for their deals, they are not coming to your store. This is all about retail competition.

also, stores used to only open at 8am on black friday. Then another store decided to open at 7am, then 6am...... and so on.

I'm just going to be getting some tools and things of that nature. We are closing on our first house at the end of the month so we need plenty of things. Lots of good deals on wrenches and other things. I have no intention of going after any big electronics or limited quantity door buster sales.

I just bought a drill kit that was going to be on sale on Friday at Lowes and Home Depot. Ace beat them to it and decided to offer it the whole week at the same price. It's a DeWalt keyless drill/driver 18 volt with two batteries and a charger for $100. Regular $160-180. I am happy with it.

I'm still trying to see if there's anything I need. JCPenney here usually has a good selection of Chief gear, and dad mentioned wanting a yellow tshirt. Yeah I figured as much but it's good timing for me. And that is the model. I take it you bought it? I didn't want to get one of the truly cheap ones because from what I have seen those are the less reliable models or without the extra battery. I could have waited for sears because they have a bunch of craftsmen on Friday starting at about $40 up to over $100 but I prefer DeWalt and this is a solid model.

sams club has 60" led 120hz 1080p tv for 695$.

i was going to go for one but my oven just died so ended up picking up a $950 oven for $600 on black friday deal.

Just made an online order for store pickup at Walmart a few hours ago and got an email just now saying it is ready for pickup. Called them and they confirmed it. They are open all day today. Man, I feel for those employees having to work on Thanksgiving all day.

I agree. I loved my Samsung, and have never been overly warm toward Vizio, but everyone I know who owns one, loves theirs. Especially compared to their other TV's.

For DVD's and Blu Rays, I go to Best Buy late in the day and still have pretty much my choice of the sale items at my local store. Don't have to deal with all of the psycho's.

Amazon has pretty much price matched most of the sale items this year. I ordered my stuff this afternoon.
