No.

The opposite if anything.

He had a concussion earlier this year...and as others have stated, he is a tough son of a bitch. The shots he takes would put most QBs in this draft out of the game. Wilson gets up when you want him to stay down for his own good...

He is durable.

Bucky Brooks,

"Geno Smith- Jason Campbell

He is a big guy, not necessarily the most nimble athlete you see playing most spread systems. He is someone that is going to beat you with his arm. I like his accuracy. I like his leadership. I like his poise. I also wouldn't dismiss the comparison to Alex Smith. He has that kind of game. He could be a top 10 pick and I think scouts are going to fall in love with him."

Again, we were talking about Tyler Wilson. So do you have a point or are you just naturally defensive for no reason?

Pointing out that when questionable comparisons are made, it is better to read between the lines than to take it 1:1...

Tyler Wilson is NOT Rivers...but I see more Rivers in Wilson than I see Ponder. Just like Geno isn't Jason Campbell...but I can see the comparisons. FWIW, I do not see the Alex Smith comparison.

Depends on who you ask and how you look at it. The shots he has taken have proven him to be tough, but have led to the durability concerns in my opinion. I wouldn't say the durability concerns are totally glaring, but I'd say they are moderate. To be honest, less glaring then Ponder, which contradicts my statements regarding their comparison, "every facet of the game," "Wilson = Ponder," etc.

I'm not totally low on the guy....just not totally high on the guy...I think we can do better with where we'll be selecting. Could be wrong though. I wouldn't be heartbroken if we selected him, but would feel apprehensive.

The only big question mark about Wilson has to do with what's in his CHEST.

That's why the comparisons to Rivers are unfortunate - Rivers has a giant vagina in his.

My question was sarcastic.

I am not in the Wilson camp, but anyone that has watched Wilson and seen the shots he's taken, and the fact that he keeps getting up and coming back for more and suggests he has durability issues is making shit up or a ****ing moron.

I'm not denying the fact he can be a hot-head.

But when colonel goody-gumdrops has been your QB for the past 4 years, it would be nice to get a guy who is a bit hot under the collar.

I think all of the shit that has gone on during the offseason leading to a season not meeting the expectations of others has got to Wilson. He tested his stock last year and decided to stay in school, expecting to be running the same offensive system, etc.

Things have not gone as planned for him...

As I said earlier, it has become obvious to me that even if Wilson IS a leader, the situation he's in now isn't conducive to him showing he can do it. It's just a bad situation.

It will be interesting to see what he learns from it and how he grows from it. Lots of guys go through this when they're losing and not to used .

Rivers is a douche all the time, even when they're winning. It remains to be seen if Wilson is like that.

Like I said, it's a matter of how you look at it and/or perceive durability. Never questioned his toughness.

Nightfyre 11-05-2012 06:31 PM

I love people who want to be taken seriously when they evaluate players by comparing them to existing players. It's a ridiculous practice. Thousands of variables exist within the confines of the game, not to mention outside influences, all of which completely alter the circumstances which will ultimately define a player. Player comparisons are for hacks.

Poor throw by Wilson for the pick six.

BossChief 11-10-2012 01:29 PM

That pass was terrible. The EXACT kind of pass that dropped Stanzi down to the 5th round.

Not saying Wilson will fall that far, he wont, not even close, but it was a careless throw that ended in a pick 6.

RealSNR 11-10-2012 01:29 PM

That throw wouldn't have been so bad if Wilson would have just put some mustard on it.

Not a totally egregious mistake. Nothing that can't be taught in the pros.

Sure-Oz 11-10-2012 01:29 PM

So pretty much all these 1st rounder QBs suck. Only this year when the chiefs have a top 5 pick, of course

Matt Ryan made dumb decisions like that all the time at Boston College.

Calm down. Wilson will be fine, as will Smith and Barkley

I dont think you can take that pass away from Wilson without taking out other big plays that result in touchdowns for his team.

He trusts his arm to fit those passes in and a lot of the time, he does.

I was gonna say the same thing.

Matt Ryan threw 19 interceptions in his senior year...

Just like I am posting this, Tyler Wilson throws another one into a tight spot and makes the defense pay.

Gotta let the kid throw those types of passes and live with the results.

Mr_Tomahawk 11-10-2012 01:37 PM

Nick Jacobs ‏@Jacobs71
Oh wow. Dangerous throw but Wilson with the accuracy to convert.

BossChief 11-10-2012 01:38 PM

In 7 of Matt Ryans 13 starts as a senior, he threw multiple interceptions and in his bowl game, he only completed 46% of his throws.

Too risky.

These guys have a higher ceiling than Barkley and their arm strength/ability to use their legs should make coaches jump at them.

I assume that Barkley will only participate in the 40 yard dash at the combine, and perform the rest at the USC pro day and private workouts.

I only watched 2 games last year and haven't watched a game this year.

Stanzi made the games fun to watch because he helped us win. This years team is terrible.

ShowtimeSBMVP 11-20-2012 05:09 PM

1) Arkansas QB Tyler Wilson (Friday vs. LSU, 2:30 p.m. ET, CBS): Wilson was once considered a potential top-10 draft pick, but he has fallen from grace with the rest of the 4-7 Razorbacks. "You wonder which is the real Tyler Wilson," one AFC college scout said. "Should we crush him for all the things that weren't his fault? Or are we seeing his true flaws that may have been masked last year with a great play-calling head coach and three NFL receivers." The scout said Wilson is talented, "but he's not very big and his arm is average." And the fact that he missed Arkansas' game against Alabama makes the final game of his college career an even bigger one: "It's one of those games the GM will turn on first, because he didn't play 'Bama."

Titty Meat 11-20-2012 05:17 PM

His arm is average? um wut? I wonder if all these negative reports are being put out as smoke screens by scouts of teams that will be trying to trade up for a QB.

Vandenberg, much like Jake Christensen, might as well be a robot under center.

No passion, no emotion, no fire. Mechanically, he's a pretty decent QB, emphasis on the word "mechanically".
