I think fields can be retained for a lot less though. I think he is their long term starter.

This Khan guy who runs the stoolers is nifty as **** when it comes to trades. He shafted Roseman in the Pickett trade and twice Poles, first with Claypool and now the Fields acquisition.

I thought for sure that he would be traded for a second or third round pick. A sixth seems like a steal.

If the plan was for him to be their long term starter, there’s zero chance they wouldn’t even let him compete with Wilson for the starting role.

Bears had no choice. The market was dead. They at least are not stupid enough to draft Williams and have Fields still there. Pitt was the only team interested apparently.
