The Weeknd- Trilogy

Anyone get this? What do you think? Someone just told me about it so far i'm liking it. What kind of genre is this considered? Seems R&bish with some soul and other stuff blended in.

R&B, though your difficulty in labeling it simply R&B is one reason it's appealing.

"House of Balloons" was one of my favorite albums last year.

Reaper will tell you that The Dream has been doing it better and longer.

Also, this may make you dislike it: it's often called "hipster R&B" because it's cool with that crowd, along with Frank Ocean, How to Dress Well, etc...

Really great albums. I'm glad they're starting to get some recognition, but I heard Wicked Games on 103.3 the other day followed by Pop, Lock and Drop it. It made my inner hipster cry.

My wife would roll her eyes and start grumbling every time she heard the opening beat for "High For This" come over the system. She knew she was in for it.

I ****s with that XO. I already have all three albums, but I'll probably buy this. Big fan. I think it was around this time last year that I first heard him.

The Weeknd > Frank Ocean

I agreed until Channel Orange. I still probably give Abel the edge, but Frank won me over with that Bad Religion performance right after he came out as bi.

"Loft music" is my favorite so far. I'd give this 4/5

My issue with The Weeknd is that he has kind of a whiny voice.

And although I can vibe with his overall style, I feel like most of his songs just sound too similar.

Coincidentally (or not), Wiz Khalifa and the Weeknd just dropped a duo. The Weeknd's influence is strong in both the video and the feel of the song.
