Why Is Justin Bieber Hosting Saturday Night Live WTF?
 

I'm old school and grew up watching SNL in the 70's.

It has gotten progressively worse since the days of Chevy Chase, Belushi, Gilda, Jane, Garrett Morris, Aykroyd, etc.

With a few standouts along the way, Eddie Murphy, Mike Myers.

The only actor worth watching on there now is Bill Hader.

But I was checking the guide tonight and that little bastard Justin Bieber is hosting and I can't understand why.

Since when is this his demographic?

WTF SNL WTF?

I always laugh when people say SNL isnt funny anymore or hasn't been funny since ___insert your fave comedian_____

It has it's moments but for the most part the sketches are pretty lame.

SNL is still on? Really?

Then don't watch it.

Problem solved.

In the 30+ years since the above mentioned left, there have been countless great comedians and sketches. Too many to list here. Is there lame stuff? Yes. Every year there is....but there was a lot of lame stuff with the original cast as well.

It tends to go in 4 year stretches. It's been a long time since the last 4 year stretch too.

I'm always hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

Usually I DVR it and FFW through the crap.

Sometimes they still have some decent musical guests.

Beiber is trying to make the same career change that Timberlake did from boy band to respectable adult singer. Timberlake has been great on SNL. Some very funny skits. Can beiber do that? We will find out tonight.

There are always a good 1/2 hour of funny every week. It's skit comedy, not everything works.

Timberlake was good on SNL.

I wish Mitch Hedberg would have lived long enough to make it on there.

There have been a few great musical performances this year. I don't know about tonight, but the Lumineers, fun., Bruno Mars, and Paul McCartney playing with Chris Novoselic and Dave Grohl was pretty cool. Those are the ones I watched that I remember. When I was a kid I usually didn't care too much for the music but now I look forward to it.

Next week's guest host is Christoph Waltz which I'm hoping is as good as it sounds.

There have been many good shows and skits over the years but in recent years, Dick in a Box, Schweddy Balls, Target Lady and lots more but I have to agree, tonight’s show with Justin Beeber sucked ass.

Timberlake is the funniest host they have had in a while. No one thought he would be funny. Beiber wasn't funny. I loved the Glice skit but not because of Beiber.

Martin Shorts week on SNL a couple of weeks ago was funny.

Well with technology advancing and social media et al, what you see now is a surge of otherwise unknown comical minds find new avenues of getting big in the comedy business.

It used to be back in the day, if you wanted to make it big in the comedy industry, SNL is your career launching pad.

It's just not that way anymore, and better minds and acts go somewhere else, thinning out the what could be a SNL talent pool.

Beiber will never be the next Timberlake, I could just be saying that because iam 27 and my generation grew up with Timberlake but it's clear as day that he doesn't have near the talent as Timberlake

Biebs is the current generation's version of Bobby Sherman. No big deal, he's just a pretty boy for 12 to 15 year old girls to scream at.

He wasn't funny.

I usually watch SNL until the Weekend Update section. Then I turn it off. Seth Meyers is a talented comedy writer.

I was surprisingly impressed with his music sets. Never really listened to him, but his sets on SNL . . . weren't repellent.

Also the Grease skit was pretty funny

Dave Grohl said hosting SNL is on his bucket list. It's a shame he hasn't been invited, and Beiber's done it twice.

Grohl Also recently hosted Chelsea Lately for a week. Did great, IMO.

He's only hosted once, I believe, and was musical guest when Tina Fey hosted a couple years back. Grohl's been a musical guest several times with Nirvana, Foo Fighters & Them Crooked Vultures.

SNL has been shit for years now. Probably closer to decades. Bieber brings the younger viewers. Beiber sucks ass. Don't know how anyone other than a young girl could like him or his music at all.

I don't think "badass" is the word I would chose, I do think he can be pretty damn funny though.
