My draft is over

This is my third season trying to build a dynasty team. These guys have been running this league for 19 years, so all the elite players have been taken for quite some time. My steal last season was Russell Wilson. I drafted him based on his performance during preseason.

QB's:
Russell Wilson
EJ Manuel

RB's:
Darren McFadden (had him for 3 seasons)
Knowshon Moreno (getting cut)
Eddie Lacy
Le'Veon Bell
Rashad Jennings

WR's:
Jordy Nelson
Mike Wallace
Dexter McCluster
Chris Givens
Vincent Brown

TE's:
Jimmy Graham
Greg Olsen

K's:
Robbie Gould
Ryan Succop

DEF/ST:
Chiefs
Bucs

It's a process. I've been trying to build young. All these owners have players that are getting up there in age. I'll be a contender in about 3 more seasons.

Thanks for the encouraging thoughts.

Have you ever actually won it?

I only ask this because I'm in a baseball league with a guy that's always trying to rebuild young. And in 8 years, he's made the playoffs 4 times and never made it out of the first round. Guys that were 'young' when he picked them up are now aging veterans.

Dynasty leagues are fun because they encourage long-term planning, but you have to be careful not to let age dictate your draft. Sure, you could end up putting a Dynasty together...but probably not. More likely is that you can build a young team that gets a championship in there and then circumstances and bad luck knock you out the next year and then a year later some of these guys start to show some wear and on and on....

The 'builders' in keeper leagues tend to lose a lot. The aggressive guys tend to win and rebuild on the fly.

Besides, how did you find the time to draft? I thought you were still cutting yourself over the Baldwin trade. I notice he's not among your dynasty prospects...

I encourage suicide. Or quitting FFL. Whichever you deem less drastic.

They had a guy who dropped out a couple years back. I had the first 2 picks. I took Graham and McFadden. The rest was free agent and/or rookies. I had Cutler as my starter and Ponder my backup (starting from scratch isn't easy). Knock on wood, but I think I could have struck gold with Wilson as my QBOTF. Last season my backs were awful. McFadden, Knowshon Moreno and McCluster as my flex. I couldn't get a RB to save my ass. I hope I beefed up with Le'Veon Bell and Eddie Lacy. I also snagged Rashad Jennings with my last pick incase McFadden goes down.

You're right I need to add some veterans that can actually put up points. It's difficult right now, but I'll get there. I was dead last my first season and 11th last season (12 owner league). Yeah I'm still cutting myself over Baldwin. He'll produce in Frisco.
