I knew Aldon would be a Fader.

Raiders spending spree is insane. Did they have any players at all? How can any team have nothing but cap space.

As soon as the one year suspension has ended, he'll be facing another suspension for DUI, vandalism and hit and run.

He might not see the field until 2017.

This is the first I've heard of this. Is that legit?

From my understanding, he was suspended for one year for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

As far as I know, he hasn't been suspended or faced Goodell over the DUI, vandalism and hit and run charges because those haven't been finalized yet, as he pled Not Guilty last September.

Red Dawg 04-05-2016 06:22 AM

He can't play until week 11. He was a juicer so we will what he is without the juice. Raider look paper champs so far. If Carr is actually the guy then they will be a tough out. He still fuggs up a lot though.

Yes.

Smith was released from the 49ers after his third DUI arrest. He plead Not Guilty to the DUI, Vandalism and Hit & Run charges and he hasn't had a trial yet for those charges.

He was suspended for violating the league's substance abuse policy but has yet to face any disciplinary action for the charges levied in August 2015, as there has been no legal resolution. If convicted, he faces more disciplinary action from the NFL.

And as Mike Florio stated yesterday, Goodell can take his sweet time in regards to reinstating Smith.

Widely characterized as a one-year suspension, Smith technically has been banished with the opportunity to reapply for reinstatement one year after his suspension began on November 17, 2015. With, as recently noted in connection with the league’s lingering failure to rule on the reinstatement petition of Browns receiver Josh Gordon, the NFL under no obligation to move swiftly or at all, there’s no reason to believe that Smith definitely will be reinstated one year after the suspension began — even if he dots every “i” and crosses every “t” during his time away from the game.

The decision of the Raiders to sign Smith while he’s suspended is admirable, giving him reason to stay on the straight and narrow in the hopes of getting the green light to return. But Smith ultimately will do nothing for the Raiders until the league reinstates him, and that will happen no sooner than the middle of November. It also could happen a lot later than that, too.

He may not get reinstated this year, but he made a deal to not appeal the suspension and have the year encompass all the items you reference above. Not going to bother looking it up as you could find it if you cared to look.

Not that he's the Aldon Smith that struck fear into offenses like he was his first couple years anyway. No PED's means he's just a good player at this point, not even probowl let alone elite.

Interesting, thanks.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...two-year-deal/

If Reggie still has anything left thats a VERY solid defense they have over there.
SS, Amerson, and Nelson in the back end.
Mack, Irvin, and Jailbird in the middle if he ever comes back
Williams, Ellis, and Edwards up front.

The West should be competitive next year.
