Vick: 1 year deal with Eagles

Pro Football Weekly‏@ProFootballWkly

Per @AdamSchefter, the #Eagles have re-signed QB Michael Vick to a one-year deal for 2013.

Pro Football Weekly‏@ProFootballWkly

RT @RapSheet: Chip Kelly says his QBs Vick & Foles will have an "open competition." Says, "In this league, you gotta have two."

DTLB58 02-11-2013 10:51 AM

YES!
As I predicted.

Thank God.

And there was much rejoicing.

Now, all we have to do is resign Albert, watch Alex Smith get traded to Arizona, and then we can all put away these ridiculous mock drafts that have us not taking a QB.

QuikSsurfer 02-11-2013 10:54 AM

I seriously doubt that the 49ers are going to trade Smith to the Cardinals.

houstonwhodat 02-11-2013 10:57 AM

Well I guess Philly will suck again this year.

Mr_Tomahawk 02-11-2013 10:57 AM

Would have been better if this was news about Alex Smith being traded to someone other than us...

I did NOT want Vick...but if we were going to end up with a retread vet...I'd rather have Vick than Smith.

Chiefspants 02-11-2013 10:57 AM

Alex to the Jets.

Get your foot on it, Rexy!

I see Cleveland being Smith's landing spot.

Setting the over/under on weeks in before he misses a start due to injury.

Week 4. What you got?

DC.chief 02-11-2013 11:02 AM

Sweet. One less thing to worry about.

I think the Jets will be willing to pay outbid the Chiefs for Alex Smith, in the unfortunate circumstance that we might actually be interested in his services.

Jason La Canfora ‏@JasonLaCanfora

Mike Vick's deal with the Eagles for 2013 can be worth up to $10M. Was to make $15.5M previously. Should be good fit with Chip Kelly.

They certainly have superior footing in this scenario.

In for Vick blowing up at Chip Kelly on the sideline.

Not so fast. This gives the Eagles their bridge QB so the guy Chip Kelly drafts can have a year to get up to speed. Now Nick Foles is available to be traded to the Chiefs.

suds79 02-11-2013 11:09 AM

Does this mean Foles is going to be available?

I mean if we're going to F this up and not draft a QB high, I'd rather it be Foles over an Alex Smith or Matt Flynn.

I know I know. It's the ole "would you rather" game.

Titty Meat 02-11-2013 11:10 AM

How old is vick 33 34? How is a qb whos only completed 60 percent of his passes once in his career a good fit for anyone?

Why not? Anything to keep Alex Smith away from KC.

Mr_Tomahawk 02-11-2013 11:17 AM

Evan Silva‏@evansilva

Had Vick returning to PHI in 1/31 QB predictions. The rest: AZ/Glennon, BUF/Nassib, CLE/Mallett, JAX/Geno, KC/Alex, NYJ/Flynn. Cassel to NE.

The Franchise 02-11-2013 11:18 AM

****ing Christ........Geno goes #2 to Jax....but we're going to go with another reeruned retread QB. I hate the media.

The meltdown that would ensue if the chiefs traded their 2nd round pick for files on draft day.

..and eventually signed him to a 63 million dollar deal.

Yeah, it would be an amazing meltdown. Especially if they ended up using #1 on Luke Joeckel, or better yet, the LSU DE.

Deberg_1990 02-11-2013 11:29 AM

How many coaches has Vick gotten fired in his career?

Watching the NFL clip on Bowe earlier on good fits for FA WRs. Baldinger said Minn while McNabb said the Jets. Yes... the Jets.

I just don't see Foles as having been drafted by Reid with the plan to groom him for the future. First of all, Reid had lost his final say in the draft process, and it certainly seemed like the bloom was well off the rose before this last year of his in Philly.

I have a hard time believing that Reid was banking on Foles or had long-term plans for working with him.

He certainly didn't have those plans for Vick since he benched him for a rookie.

I was kind of hoping we could get Foles along with a rookie. I wonder who the vet we acquire is going to be?

Meh, if they were like the bengals, they would have traded Vick for a couple of first rounders to the Raiders.

Yeah, that would seem to be the sole reason they wouldn't pull the trigger on a deal.

EagleRob 02-11-2013 08:11 PM

May not even make the opening day roster.
$3.5 M signing bonus paid by 15 April
$500k roster bonus
$3.5 M salary
$500 k for 50% playing time
$1 M for 90% playing time
$1 M for Super Bowl win

So the Eagles are only in for $3.5M and can cut him in camp.

OrtonsPiercedTaint 02-11-2013 08:19 PM

I'd like to make 3.5 and do absolutely nothing.

If I were a betting man, it would be Jason Campbell.

He's better by a long shot than Cassel/Quinn and would be a happy #2 in a system like Reid's at this point in his career.

He's got good starting experience in the league, would come relatively cheap and gives the Chiefs a very good scout team/opposition QB in practice.
