Need help with strange pc issue
 

Here is the background. I built my pc over a year ago and its been running fine.

i7 3770k
P8Z77-V MB
32 GB DDR3 RAM
EVGA 660 ti graphics card
256GB SSD

I decided to install a bigger SSD because I have nearly filled it up. So I back everything up. Shut down my pc. Unplug all cables. Remove old drive. Install new drive. Plug everything back in and when I boot up I can't get video to my monitor. It's posting and everything sounds like normal. Not sure what it could be.

I've put back the old drive and the same thing is happening. I've attached the monitor to my laptop and it works fine.

I am running out of ideas. I know someone on CP can point me in the right direction. Help!!

I will check back tomorrow for your suggestions/questions and hopefully be able to elaborate a bit better than I did.

Have you tried Safe Mode?

Flashed your BIOS?

It sounds to me like an IRQ conflict. Good luck!

It's probably a graphics driver issue. Your OS can't find the graphics driver on the new hard drive.

Try booting into safe mode, downloading the driver and installing.

Might try onboard graphics if you have it to troubleshoot. If it's a brand new install, might not be able to natively recognize a graphics card without drivers.

Have you tried booting with no Hard Drive installed? Do you have another older drive for porn storage? Dumb question but, have you tried re-seating the video card and making sure the connection from the PSU to card is secure? I've had an issue like this before with a friend and it ended up being he had a wacky ass wire management system and he loosened the pin to the video card when drive swapping.

Before all that, pull the battery on the mobo and leave it out for around 15 minutes to ensure you've reset the CMOS.

i agree, this would be the first step.
i believe that MB does have onboard vga. sometimes there's a setting in BIOS to change default display from onboard to pci-e. maybe it got set to onboard somehow? plug in to onboard and see if you have light

Thanks everyone! I appreciate all the suggestions. I am going again. Prior to attempting any of the options above, I verified all connections for the upteenth time. I then powered everything down, unplugged the power cord, held the power button to discharge any excess power and then plugged everything back in and started up and sure enough I have video now. Phew!!!

I was going to suggest plugging into the right output. I can't tell you how many times I've had people have me come fix their computer because they aren't getting video, when they've just plugged into the built in video cards output rather than the discreet video cards output.
