A lot of sushi here in Northern VA. Went out a few times a week for sushi with the lunch crowd at work but had never tried it before moving from Philly fifteen years ago. Got my kids hooked on it - my older daughter is adventurous and will eat whatever I order. Ordering anything expensive for my son is a waste of time because he shoves it in like a Hobart garbage disposal. My younger daughter is still on the basics but creative - she likes me to roll it at home and put kid food in there (I've become quite proficient in cheeseburger roll, chicken finger roll, and hot dog nigiri with "electrical tape". My faves are Dynamite Roll, Vegas Roll, Sake, Salmon Sashimi, Lobster Salad Roll, and Brown Rice Chesapeake Roll with cooked crabmeat.

You have many choices indeed. And I'll tell you (being born in, doing a number of tours in, and actually growing up some in, Va. Beach) you have awesome choices for eating. Annapolis is a great place to start, and making your way down the DELMARVA peninsula to the CBBT allow for some awesome seafood all the way to Va. Beach. Wow, almost makes me miss the area! While I spend some time in San Diego/Coronado, I can say the DELMARVA area offers far better "seafood" and some awesome Sushi (as a separate genre of seafood). I've always wondered why people want to compare the two locations...

I've been threatening to take that drive one weekend for the food alone. I figure we would start in Rehoboth Beach DE at Dog Fish Head and go south until we got to OBX hitting some of the seafood culinary highlights along the way. PM me if you have any tips. Summer is a month away!

Last time I had decent sushi was in this kaiseki lunch in Boston called Oishii.

So the sushi here is at the bottom of the pic, obviously. Salmon and eel nigiri, as well as generously portioned maguro and hamachi sashimi. The other courses included lobster & wild mushroom risotto, crab cake, crispy rock shrimp w/ lemon aioli, seared wild king salmon, spicy tuna handroll, and a grilled black cod w/ miso.

Do you recall which Oishii location that was? There's one on Washington Street and one in Chestnut Hill.
