OK, this may be my most off the wall question ever

Most awkward sex scene ever on film?

Because in the past week, I feel like I've witnessed two titans of all time.

Sunday on HBO was that monstrosity between Booth and that poor Marnie [Brian Willam's daughter IRL BTW] on Girls was about the weirdest I've seen since Blue Velvet.

Then I was catching up on American Horror Story Asylum, and witnessed the somehow simultaneously slo-mo and feverish coitus between Lana and Dr. Thredson as Lana was his Surrogate Mother/Future Lampshade in his Sweeney Todd Basement, and thought 'has the world just gone through the looking glass?'

[particularly as I've been sqiqued-out with the whole Lana/Threadson sexual politics storyline with it being written by two gay writers and both the actors portraying them being gay playing straight/repressed as well]

Sorry if a repost.

La literatura 01-30-2013 10:28 PM

Played for straight intentional comedy, I liked the "Hi. Hi. Hi." scene of Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

La literatura 01-30-2013 10:33 PM

Actually, any sex scene that comes on when you're in the same room as your parents is the most awkward sex scene.

Fishpicker 01-30-2013 10:34 PM

Anatomy of Hell

per http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anatomy_of_Hell
Anatomy of Hell, like many of Breillat's other works, explores female sexuality, in this case focusing specifically on male fear and resentment of that sexuality. The plot follows an unnamed woman who is discovered in the middle of a suicide attempt in the toilet of a gay bar by one of its male patrons. The woman offers to pay the man to watch her for four days, during which time she explains her views on sex and sexuality.

Or with your dog who just got neutered.

Baby Lee 01-30-2013 10:41 PM

Oh Yeah, I also forgot about that depraved Serbian Film of a couple of years ago. I won't say more than that. And I haven't seen it.

But I'm talking more about plasuaible, American mores, sex scenes of a more pedestrian variety. Things that actually make movie screens.

teedubya 01-30-2013 10:42 PM

The sex/rape scene in the movie "Kids" was awkward/disturbing.

Buck 01-30-2013 10:44 PM

Stevie ****ing the black prostitute in Eastbound and Down.

, this is the clear cut winner... just the other day i was watching netflix at moms while doing some laundry, it was a documentary titled something like "Life After Porn", about the travails of various porn stars when they leave the business... and just as some raunchy scene comes on, here comes Ma from her shopping trip... WHATS THAT?

Turned it off after explaining it wasnt real porn, just a show.

Ebolapox 01-30-2013 10:48 PM

that one in showgirls where the chick is waving her hair around... it's hilarious. so ****ing exaggerated.

Baby Lee 01-30-2013 10:50 PM

I should have added, those who have seen the scenes in Girls and American Horror Story should have pre-eminence.

Tangentially:

What's the deal with the show Girls? I don't get HBO, but salon.com hasn't been this obsessed with something since Barack Obama appeared on the political scene. It's kind of creepy how much they obsess on this show.

Everything I read about it makes me think it's Sex in the City with a dumpy hipster instead of Sarah Jessica Parker.

It's incredibly hard to explain. I've never come across someone who I'm less physically attracted to, yet found more endearing, than Lana Dunham. She;s not just 'dumpy,'' she's doughy in the middle, and flat in the chest, and with a weak chin. But there's an endearing quality to her that breaks through in moments in the show. Part of it is her writing such great material at such a young age. It's not just 'Sex in the City rebooted.' It's Millenials growing up in a post SatC world with all the expectations and disappointments adjusted and rationalized. She [and her friends] are growing up in a perfect situation for their demographics, yet are both flailing and thriving in said situation, depending on your metrics.

The key is her eye for minutiae. In the most recent episode, there's a 5 second scene of her trying to do the workout being shown on the TV that's the most depressing and endearing scene I've seen in a long while. A while back in season 1 there was an extended scene where a rich guy who had lured two hotties to his impressive crib, but they were amused with him than impressed, and he loses his shit in an impressively inventive way. You have to see the scenes to realize their import. There's no more I can say.

It's the epitome of a a 'you had to see it' situation. Watch 2-3-4 episodes of the show and come back and discuss is all I can advise. I've never seen anything so contemporaneously repellent and adorable in a long while.

Nzoner 01-31-2013 06:54 AM

Off the top of my head I'd go with Lolita and Midnight Express, the latter was more uncomfortable than awkward for me personally.

okoye35chiefs 01-31-2013 08:08 AM

on a side note I went to my sister in laws to get some gum work done on the weekend. (she was studying and needed patients)

So she put "Something about Mary" on for me while I had to sit in the chair for an hour with chemicals on my gums.. She leaves to go do other things.

Another tech comes in my room to get something for her patient in the other room. She is about 45ish. She stands up and the scene where he is jacking off in the bathroom is on!

I am mortified and I can't talk because I have all this crap in and on my gums and teeth.. She says "oh my" and walks out just as She takes the c>& for hair gel!

AKWARD!

Pretty much nailed it.

It's a brilliant show.

La literatura 01-31-2013 01:59 PM

I haven't seen Girls, but I caught Tiny Furniture (her breakthrough indie film), and it's a good watch. I don't know if she's the voice of my generation, but she really shows a good microcosm of a large segment of it.

And I didn't even mention Adam who may be one of the most brilliant characters in TV history, with practically nothing to do. He'll be a seeming complete asshole for so long, then mutter the most endearing rationale under his breath that more than excuses it, it makes it the exact right thing to do.

Like I said, you have to see it to understand.

Dunham is pretty amazing. Writing, directing, producing.

The bachelor party in clerks 2 was about as awkward a sex scene as I can remember.

Has to be one of the sex scenes from boardwalk empire. And without revealing too much info about the show for those of you that haven't seen it yet.. but i'm refering to when Jimmy had sex with his... ugh I can't say it. Damn that shit was distrubing!

Wanted to watch it, left it in the white cabinet.

Kind of weird how Ray [the loser] in Girls is Jed [the winner] in Tiny Furniture

Yea, I'd be willing to throw that one in there as the most awkward/disturbing sex scenes ever.

Rape scenes in I spit on your gave remake. Tooooo ****ing realistic. Can't believe there's an actress that was willing to do that.

billy bob thorton and Halle Barry was weird. Spader jacking off on that one bitch who sucks in secretary?

Must have blanked out the Spader masturbation scene, but Maggie was amazing in that show. Amazing.

EDIT: completely passed me by on first blush, but WTF?!?!?! That scene in Monster was epic, nothing weird about it. Maybe the idea of BBT having sex is skeevy, but Halle more than makes up for it.

And it's not like BBT doesn't have skills, he snagged Angelina Jolie for a good while.

Seen Salo?

It's supposed to be epic in its ****uppery. I downloaded a long time ago, but never got around to seeing it.

ETA: I downloaded it not because I'm a scumbag IP thief, but it had been out of print forever, the secondary market on Ebay and the like would only have sporadic offerings that were for 100s of dollars for a DVD [which obviously do nothing for the content creators], and I happened across a link for it.

KcMizzou 02-16-2013 06:43 PM

I've got the winner.

Comedian Jim Jefferies jerks off a paralyzed DJ Qualls (pretending the hand belongs to Qualls' character) for his new found online GF in video chat.

Second episode of "Legit"

Oh, and
Spoiler!

I haven't, but I do have it at home.

Baby Lee 02-16-2013 08:27 PM

Oh, and I don't want to conflate awkward and repellent. I'm looking more for a discussion of consenting adults doing weird stuff than depraved sick shit.

Think more Roseanne Barr and Tom Arnold with a spatula and peanut butter than baby rape.

KChiefer 02-16-2013 08:40 PM

Kinda funny yet sad awkward? Charlize Theron and Patton Oswalt, Young Adult

Just sad awkward? Robert De Niro and Ellen Barkin, This Boys Life

As far as Girls goes, there hasn't been a sex scene on that show that isn't awkward.

KChiefer 02-16-2013 09:02 PM

Brad Pitt opening the door wearing a dish-glove in Fight Club.

Woody Allen's Everything you ever wanted to know about sex... That whole film is awkward.

I know you said think more amusing than sad, but I can't help it..."Ass to Ass" in Requiem for a Dream.

Who would have thought they'd EVER see a scene where someone was peeing in the weeds at a rural train station, on the phone with her parents whining from her UTI?

Like I said, hilarious, repellent and adorable.

Baby Lee 03-17-2013 11:54 PM

Same show, different question.

Does anyone know what the dramatic music was on the episode last night when Adam ran to her apartment to cradle from her despair?

If no one knows of the top off their head, maybe someone can Shazam it.

Also, what do CPers make of NBC News anchor Brian William's daughter getting her puss munched? They didn't show any of her swimsuit areas, but they did show a guy nostril deep in her lap.

Every time, I chuckle and murmur 'poor Brian.'

This scene may have topped the scene that started the thread, not in its kinks or anything [I imagine every red-blooded straight boy/man has been nostril deep at some point. OK, maybe not the brothers, legend is they detest that shit].

So I am all caught up on the series thanks to you bringing it up here. Do you know, or are you a member of the Generation N(Narcissism) portrayed on this show? I know a few and this show is pretty much on the money with this directionless bunch. Much of what I have seen is cringe inducing because I've seen it play out in real life over and over again.

Other than that, the most redeeming character on the show is either Adam or Ray, in my opinion. Both guys are brutally honest about who they are, to a fault almost. Everyone else seems to be all about mememememememememe. Maybe I am just a grouch...
