Mark Sanchez against winning teams*

2009: 6-4
2010: 4-5
2011: 0-4

*includes 4 playoff wins.

TOTAL: 10-13 (.434)

Cassel in KC: 2-8 (.200) (includes 68-yard explosion against 2010 Chargers)

The best defense for all of Cassel's bullshit is that he hasn't faced that many winning teams the last two seasons. Just four in two years, which is shocking to be honest. I guess you could argue he hasn't had much of an opportunity to prove himself against good teams while playing with a solid supporting cast.

He has constantly ducked good teams the last two seasons by sheer fortune. Likely he would have been eviscerated by Rivers in San Diego in 2010, but our failed assassination attempt took priority.

In 2011 his convenient injury meant he didn't have to face:

New England
Pittsburgh
Green Bay

He also didn't have to face Chicago (Bears defense would have ****ed him up), Oakland with Carson Palmer or Denver on the road.

Likely he would have lost all of those and we would have even stronger evidence that he's a piece of shit.

YOU CAN'T HIDE THIS YEAR, MATT.

While it is true Cassel made some big plays in the win over the Steelers in 2009, that game also included a 97 yard KO return for a TD to open the game by Charles.

The Chiefs then went down by a score of 17-7 at half.

Enter Andy Studebakers 15 minutes of fame as an NFL player. Two 3rd quarter Interceptions... one of which he returned 94 yards to the Steelers 8 yard line, and resulted in two Matt Cassel sacks followed by a 27 yard FG by Succop to tie the game at 17.

Cassel then probably had some of his finer moments as a Chiefs QB to tie the game at 24.

In OT, when it appeared the Chiefs were going to lose, Big Ben was injured and Charlie Batch took over at QB with the Steelers right on the brink of FG range.

The Chiefs held.

Chris Chambers took a short pass and turned it into a 61 yard gain to the Steelers 4. Succop ended it.

Yes, he did. And we have to give him full credit for it. That was a good ending to that game for Cassel, especially since Bowe wasn't playing.

If I don't give Cassel credit for his successes, however minor, I can't feel 100% justified in burying him for his mistakes.

This thread is nothing but a bunch of haters and to that I say

CASSEL CASSEL CASSEL CASSEL CASSEL

On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.

On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn-out dogmas that for far too long have strangled our franchise.

We remain a young franchise, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness.

(APPLAUSE)

In reaffirming the greatness of our franchise, we understand that greatness is never a given. It must be earned. Our journey has never been one of shortcuts or settling for less.

Coogs 07-22-2012 08:40 AM

Another interesting fact from Cassel's Pro Bowl 2010 season was the rushing stats from the 10 games that were won. In order, here are the 10 games...

26 carries... 135 yards
39 carries... 140 yards
39 carries... 207 yards
42 carries... 236 yards
45 carries... 274 yards
29 carries... 159 yards
48 carries... 270 yards
39 carries... 185 yards
42 carries... 210 yards
40 carries... 152 yards

Totals:

389 carries... 1968 yards

or

39 carries... 197 yards per game average.

Tim Tebow posted 8 wins during his famous 2011 season in Denver that featured nothing but running the ball. The rushing stats for Denver for those 8 games:

40 carries... 177 yards
39 carries... 299 yards
55 carries... 244 yards
34 carries... 125 yards
51 carries... 208 yards
32 carries... 150 yards
34 carries... 124 yards
34 carries... 131 yards

Totals:

319 carries... 1458 yards

or

40 carries... 182 yards per game average.

What's sad is that we almost lost one of those games, against Buffalo, because Cassel was so god damn awful, and basically was not responsible for a single third-down conversion the entire game.

He was 14 of 26 for 152 yards. Bowe had 3 catches for 16 yards.

We had 274 yards rushing, 0 turnovers, and held Buffalo to 3.9 yards per play.

And we won by 3 after 10 minutes of overtime, including a missed game winner by the Bills.

Hammock Parties 07-22-2012 10:55 AM

IMPORTANT FACT #6018:

71.4% percent of Cassel's 28 career wins have come against these shitty QBs.

Brodie Croyle
JT O'Sullivan
Marc Bulger
Trent Edwards x2
Seneca Wallace x2
JaMarcus Russell x2
Jason Campbell
Kyle Orton x2
Todd Bouman
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Derek Anderson
Sam Bradford
Kerry Collins
Donovan McNabb's Corpse
Curtis Painter
Kyle Boller

He has lost to the following QB from this list: Russell, Orton x2, Fitzpatrick x2, Campbell x2

Pasta Little Brioni 07-22-2012 10:57 AM

Josh Looney was writing an article this week about how great Baldwin was at minicamp. He wrote that "There were acrobatic catches, leaping grabs and toe-touch finishes."

At first I thought "Great! Jon Baldwin is going to blow up!"

Then I realized...why is Cassel throwing passes so high that a 6'4 receiver with a 40 inch vertical has to LEAP for it? Or go to his toes?

Cassel throwing over people's heads and at their feet. Yay.

New offensive schemes has Wylie and McCluster running mirror patterns in front of Bowe and Baldwin. That way, if Cassel throws to a small guy, Bowe/Baldwin are there for the 8 foot overthrow. Vice versa for Cassel throwing at the tall wide receivers' feet.

"toe-touch finishes" referring to toe dragging to stay in bounds imo. Also, they want Baldwin to be that ally oop guy in the paint. Not disagreeing Cassel could miss fish in a barrel though. Idiot telegraphs every throw, maybe his inaccuracy is a shield from INT's. I've seen opposing DB's shake their head after a pass play that was way off target. Like, wtf.

Without actually seeing them we have no way of knowing whether they were bad throws or if Baldwin was heavily covered and that was the only way to get the ball where he could catch it. I know everyone hates Cassel, but there is no reason to make assumptions.

It's just weird that you could read all those statistics about Cassel's failures and how he's NEVER been able to throw a good pass, and then say, "well, there IS the possibility that all those acrobatic catches were actually the best available passes he could have thrown on the field."

I mean, it'd be one thing if Cassel showed small incremental improvement in his game over the course of three years. But he hasn't even done that.

LMAO

I am not paid by the hour.

Cassel's hours, however, ARE NUMBERED.

Does anyone have the gif of Cassel in the Ravens playoff game where he had like 10 seconds in the pocket and threw the INT? I believe it was in the late 3rd quarter.

You know, it has occurred to me that there are absolutely zero GIFs of Cassel failing against the Ravens.

This week I'll rectify that.

I like facts before I make up my mind about something. I don't have facts about those particular throws the person I replied to was talking about, so I won't form an opinion about it.

This forum has enough unfounded opinions based on hate and anger.
