*** 2017 Prospect Tracker: Chiefs Interest / Visits / Work Outs ***

Another playoff run, and a winning season has us drafting at the tail end of each round.

This is the 6th year in a row that we will be tracking the college players the Chiefs have publicly or privately expressed interest in leading up to the NFL Draft.

Here's how we did in 2016.

For those who are new, the way this operates is that we collectively monitor various social media sources, blogs, articles and reports for news of the Chiefs' interest in a certain player. When posted in this thread, I will update the OP to include the player. *Please provide the link to the article, the players name, position and team.

I am going to try to link to player profiles when they exist, courtesy of draftbreakdown.com. For some of the lesser-known guys, it may just be a random video or profile from their team website.

Let's meet some of our future Chiefs:

I think this is a guy to really watch going forward. Decent size at 6'2 215, big hands at 10 6/8, and has been one of the stars so far this week in practice.

What restrictions are placed on guys from the service academies? I know the rules have changed since the Roger Staubach/Napoleon McCallum days, but how?

I think it varies, depending on their agreement with the service, no?

Well, the money wasn't insane back in the day.

The country would throw a fit if a Roger Staubach type talent, who would easily go #1 overall, wasn't allowed to defer his service.

Maybe we still take him and Berry mentors him and teaches him both safety positions ??

From the star today:

Quote:

It appears the Chiefs are taking a hard look at several rookie running backs in this year’s draft class. Three of them — Louisiana-Lafayette’s Elijah McGuire, North Carolina State’s Matt Dayes and Wyoming’s Brian Hill — told The Star on Thursday they have formal interviews with the Chiefs this week. Those are an indicator of the Chiefs’ interest in a player because each team only gets 60 of the 15-minute sitdowns per combine.

Seems they have a lot of interest in McGuire.

I've had my eye on McGuire and Dayes for teh Chiefs, but not the kid from Wyoming. I also think the Aaron Jones kid from UTEP will end up high on their radar.

Seems they have a lot of interest in McGuire.

It's who Dorsey doesn't talk to is who he is really interested in and I assure you he will waste a few legit 15 minute interviews to put up a good smoke screen.;)

It's poker time fellas !! And Dorsey knows Denver is desperate to some degree. This will be a fun dramatic draft with Denver already slotted ahead of us.

Wilson8 03-06-2017 06:36 AM

From kansascity.com -

Quote:

Corners who have confirmed formal interviews with the Chiefs include: Fabian Moreau of UCLA, Quincy Wilson of Florida, Tre’Davious White of Louisiana State, Cameron Sutton of Tennessee, Adoree’ Jackson of Southern California and Jeremy Clark of Michigan.
So lots of cornerbacks (Moreau, Wilson, White, Sutton, Jackson, and Clark) running backs (McGuire, Samuel, Dayes, Mack, and Hill), quarterbacks (Kizer, Trubisky, Watson, Mahomes, Peterman, and Kaaya), and a few edge rushers (Harris and Bashham).

This is going to be a fun draft to watch.

Wilson8 03-06-2017 06:59 AM

Matching players projected draft slot to these names for the Chiefs...

1 (27) - QB Patrick Mahomes II, Texas Tech
2 (59) - CB Quincy Wilson, Florida
3 (91) - RB Marlon Mack, South Florida

ArrowheadPride coming through clutch for this thread: http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2017/3...ine-interviews

Quarterback
Clemson QB Deshaun Watson
Notre Dame QB DeShone Kizer
Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes
Pittsburgh QB Nathan Peterman
Miami QB Brad Kaaya

The Chiefs also met with Mitch Trubisky informally, according to BJ Kissel. There seems to be more interest in a quarterback this year than in previous years. Indeed, I went back and checked our old Chiefs draft interests trackers dating back to 2009 and there are more quarterbacks on this list than we usually see. Of course, we don’t know about every interview every year ...

Running back
Ohio State RB / WR Curtis Samuel
Wyoming RB Brian Hill
Louisiana-Lafayette RB Elijah McGuire
North Carolina State RB Matt Dayes

Defensive line
Florida DL Caleb Brantley

Linebacker
Vanderbilt LB Zach Cunningham
Temple LB Haasan Reddick
Mizzou LB Charles Harris
Ohio LB Tarell Basham

Cornerbacks
UCLA CB Faniab Moreau
Florida CB Quincy Wilson
LSU CB Tre’Davious White
Tennessee CB Cameron Sutton
USC CB Adoree’ Jackson
Michigan CB Jeremy Clark

No offense to you sir, but Charley Casserly is a hack. His hot takes were relevant about 25 years ago if not 45 years ago. Old windbag with his goofy accent is just for entertainment purposes now.

My 2 favorites out of all these backs are these guys below. Both are extremely quick with great vision and exceptional change of direction(fantastic quick feet) with take it to the house speed on every play. Power is deceptive as well better than you think. All these guys have JC esque ability but these 2 guys below you really feel like you are watching JC himself IMHO.

Thank you for that. I dont see the point in drafting Hill when we already have Ware, feel like they're similar type of backs.

I dont want to draft Samuel where he's projected to go, just havent seen enough between the tackles success for a high round RB.

McGuire is a guy who's name keeps getting mentioned here and there but I just dont see where he stands out in a class as crowded as this one.

I'm a big fan of Dayes, I think he'll be a steal for someone.

Hill is much faster than Ware and can take it to the house where Spencer cannot. Their power is about the same I agree.

IMHO McGuire and Dayes are almost identical to each other. Don't know if you watched all of the McGuire vid I put up but the last half of that vid he really shines. Either one of these guys is fine with me.

I can see why Dorsey would be interested in Samuel just for the great fit for a Reid out of the backfield or down the field RB passing attack. Just one more offensive weapon for the defense to be accountable for along with Tyreek ? Deadly.

7 out of the 27 are quarterbacks, seems like they are really interested in QB's this go around.

Yep...and the fact that they are having an actual private meeting with one of the top projected QB's is very telling that their wheels are turning with the WB position.

Just read this morning that RB Mixon has met with Chargers,Raiders,Broncos but not Chiefs. And looking back to last years thread Hill was not listed on it. And we know Dorsey had extensive vetting with him. so I wonder how many meetings are done by the secret service we don't know about ?

Thanks for updating Dante !

I think that it is also pretty telling that there are not many other 1st round prospects on the list other than QB.

Per the Draft Analyst website; Davis Webb met with the New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers over the past two days.

The Aaron Jones kid kinda reminds me of Ray Rice a little bit. The other RB's on the list are pretty "meh" in my opinion.

Well, his QB is terrible, but the WR we talked to - Jalen Robinette - has some sick "get-off." His burst off the line is pretty sweet.

And this TE we spoke with is kind of a freak:

I need to find someone to bet on this. That way if we don't I at least get some money. If I lose who gives a shit we got a QB!
