I'm going to go light on explanations here. Forgive me.

1. The Chiefs extend QB Alex Smith 6 years, $90m (when you break the numbers down, it will actually break down to 4 years, $60m, with something like $35m guaranteed), and S Eric Berry 6 years, $45m ($23m guaranteed). They will extend Justin Houston at some point during the 2015 season.

2. The Chiefs sign RB Fozzy Whittaker (Browns) to a minimal deal, OT J'Marcus Webb (Vikings) to a 2-year, $4m deal, and S Kurt Coleman (Eagles) to a minimal deal.

1.23. OG Xavier Su'a-Filo, UCLA

The Chiefs are almost certainly looking to bolster the trenches, particularly at the guard position where the last remaining "true" hole on this team is.

3.87. OLB Chris Smith, Arkansas

I haven't had this guy falling, but the CP Mock proved it to me otherwise. He could fall to the Chiefs' 4th rounder in that mock, but I think he's 2nd round talent. I'll split the difference here and give the Chiefs some talent to potentially replace Hali.

4.124. WR Mike Davis, Texas

Not a very sexy option, but a very solid option. Mike Davis has all the tools to be a successful WR in the NFL. I think he has a ceiling as a really good #2.

5.163. NT Ryan Carrethers, Arkansas State

The Chiefs have nothing behind Poe. And Carrethers isn't the athlete Poe is, but he does have Poe's endless motor and great technique. I believe Carrethers has starter upside.

6.193. CB Nevin Lawson, Utah State

Lawson carries with him a smaller frame an inch or two bigger than Flowers, and has excelled defending the slot due to his extremely fast recovery speed and his aggressiveness against the run. I just looked him up on CBSSports.com and they compare his game to... Chris Owens. This allows Flowers to stay outside as Owens and Lawson man the slot.

6.200. OLB Devon Kennard, USC

Forgot my free agent acquisitions. Hang tight. It obviously won't take long. LMAO

Mike Davis is as good a receiver as anybody in this draft. I think he's the identical twin of Marquis Lee. Is a very good deep ball receiver, gets very good separation, good frame and length.

I think he was caught in the malaise that overtook the Longhorns program the past couple of years and his numbers suffered, however, he did end his career as one of the top receivers in Texas school history. (Only one of three UT WR's with 200 catches and 2,700 yards.) And while the entire Longhorn team seemed to greatly suffer in 2013, Davis did end up with eight TD's. Ran in the mid-4.4's at his Pro Day.

As you state, I think he'll make a very good #2 with enough ceiling to potentially be a #1 WR. Would be a very good pick in the fourth.

While most people consider Utah's Keith McGill to have the most upside, Nevin Lawson was, without question, the best CB of the Big Three Utah colleges. (Utah, BYU, Utah State) Fast and physical, Lawson can really play football. Guys wanting dudes like Bradley Roby or Jason Verrett should love this guy. (I think he's as good as either of these dudes.) As you say, he's a very solid nickel CB prospect.

I put Carrethers in my mock and they need a guard and S'ua-Filo is a very talented player.

I'd rather have seen a OT in the sixth versus Kennard. Someone like Matt Patchan or Justin Britt possibly.

Your last few drafts have all had Xavier Su'a Filo as our 1st rounder, and I really don't think the pick is as likely as you think to be OL.

It maybe LEANS that direction, but it's not like last year when it was a certainty that we weren't going QB at #1 overall after the Smith trade. Yeah, I still had hope, but to convince myself that there was even a minuscule chance of it would have been foolish.

Also, if Chiefs Planet members were instruments of the orchestra, Direckshun would be an English horn.

I hope Smith is there in the third. Agree they'll draft a NT, can't let Poe get run in the ground like last year. Chief fans better get ready for Filo or Yankey in the first.

Ebron will go at 24 and Beckham will go at 25, and we'll take Yancey or Xavier Su'a-Filo at 23.

Why the **** do people insist on thinking we are drafting a guard before the third round.

Had they signed Schwartz there would be no talk of doing this and instead they could go with a skilled position. But, we're the Chiefs and this is what we do. :banghead:
