Chiefs trying to trade Justin Houston
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Chiefs talking to teams about trading OLB Justin Houston.
We doubt they're successful. Houston turned 30 last month and carries an exorbitant $21.1 million cap hit. If the Chiefs don't find a trade partner, they're fully expected to release Houston, especially with Dee Ford likely coming back on either a big-money deal or the franchise tag. Houston's play has slipped in recent years, but he can be an effective sub-package rusher off the edge https://www.rotoworld.com/football/n...as-city-chiefs https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/n...carr-and-more/ https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2019/...justin-houston |
That cinches it. Houston is gone.

It's really in a teams best interest to trade for him if they want him. It guarantees they get him, his contract wouldn't be guaranteed so you could move on from him at any time and the cap hit for them won't be the 21 million number. Am I wrong?

Great....can't wait for KC to rely on Breeland Speaks.
|
Honestly, there's nobody from last year's _efense that I'd miss if they got whacked.

15.6 is hard to accept, but some team might with all the top end edge rushers likely coming off the market. |
Iirc if you traded for him you’d only be responsible for his base as the chiefs would cover the signing bonus part
|
Indy is a no brainer destination IMO.
Ample cap space, Ballard knows us, trying to contend. But I wouldn’t send him to Indy for peanuts. |

Bye Felicia. Take yo broke dick ass and GTFO |
If they can’t trade him, they should restructure and convert half his base to bonus and cut him next year...but what do I know?
If Denver could get a pick for old ass Talib, we should be able to get a third for Houston. He only has 1.5m in dead money for 2020, so converting 7m this year means it clears that much in cap space right away and cutting him next year would still save us 11m on next years cap. Cutting him outright doesn’t make a ton of sense to me. |

The team trading for him would be paying him 14m this year and 17.5 next year. |
What about Cleveland? Houston and Garrett would wreck shit.
|
Send him to the Bucs.

No one player is worth 20 mil except the QB. No one player affects the game as much. Houston should be open to a pay cut to stay.
Does he not want a SB? I guess not. Does EB? He won't take one either most likely. They both made a ton and care about else. How many at NE make 20 mil? None. |
