Colts Release Freeney
http://www.examiner.com/article/nfl-...elease-freeney
The Indianapolis Colts joined the Green Bay Packers today when it came to cutting ties with veteran defensive stars, this time being Dwight Freeney. According to ESPN on Feb. 15, the Colts release Freeney and don't plan on re-signing him. This is an even bigger move than the Charles Woodson release earlier in the day. While Woodson was a star in Green Bay, and a locker room leader, Freeney is the Colts' all-time leader in sacks. However, as the Colts proved last season when they showed Peyton Manning the door, they don't have any problems with cutting ties with beloved stars. Freeney said he was shocked at the release, saying the Colts told him they wanted to go in a different direction. He said he wanted to retire as a member of the Colts, but now will just move on into free agency and try to find a new home. Much like Manning, a Colts' record holder will finish his career outside of Indianapolis. Freeney is only 33, but his sack totals have dropped in each of the past three seasons. In 2009, Freeney finished with 13.5 sacks and recorded 10, 8.5 and five over the past three seasons. He has 107.5 career sacks, good for 21st best since the NFL began keeping track of the sack totals. |
Can he throw 7 yards?

Per @bkravitz, #Colts release WR Austin Collie and will not re-sign Dwight Freeney. Freeney was gonna be a FA cant cut them. |
5 sacks and 10 tackles in 14 games for 2012. No shocker.
|
Sign him.

Freeney and Ware. |

His last double-digit sack season was 2010 and at age 32, it's unlikely he'll regain his youthful form. |
Will be over priced and is used up.

I think he'll have an impact if he goes to Dallas. He did have 33 QB hurries last season. More than Hali or Houston. |

He was a great player but it's hard to envision him competing at a high level for 16 games at age 32. |
If Clark had signed Jon Gruden. Freeney would be a Chief, because Gruden really likes that guy. Oh wait... Gruden really likes everybody
|
I wonder if Peppers will be available this year
|
Cut Jackson, sign Freeney!

Bruce Smith had an absurd 84. |

Bruce Smith is a HOFer and Strahan will be in shortly. Not sure about Taylor although it's probable. Is Freeney a HOFer? |

I think Dane is right here.
Freeney has lost a step, hell it seems like he's always been dinged up for the last five years Posted via Mobile Device |

Lets sign all of the over the hill has beens and screw the draft picks, great idea, what a concept!
Oh wait, they have tried that many times. No thanks, no Freeney and no Hester please. |
Guy is damned easy to gameplan against. Just run to his inside shoulder, as he'll almost always make a beeline outside to the QB.
|
He needs to be in a 4-3.
|
He needs to go to a team like the Pats, Ravens or Niners.....Aging star who gets one last chance at another title. The media would eat it up.

Can we at least check the tires on him!!!!

Freeney still has gas left in that tank. I expect he will have a very good year. His stats didn't tell the whole story of his season. He was obviously bothered by a high ankle sprain for most of the year

I think if they could get him cheap (they won't, but for the sake of argument) they'd play him outside in the 3-4 a lot... |

Freeney is done. Much like running backs with explosiveness, once that first step starts to go, it's over.
|
Big Willie Roaf could STILL shut him down and handle him like a child
|
could he punch Winston in the face?
