Best cover of Voodoo Child by Far

Stevie Ray Vaughn is my favorite all time guitar player and here is a vid of him from 1985 covering Voodoo Child. Yes, I have heard him cover this song before but not like this. This will be the best 14 minutes for those of you guitar playing fools. He is higher than a kite and I can't imagine what this would of sounded like had he been sober because his playing is just brilliant !!This youtube clip has only 86,000 views and maybe you have not seen this version yet. But it is well worth it. Enjoy !!

Love Kath as well and Jimi supposedly told someone off stage at his own concert or on TV(Mike Douglas or Dick Cavatt - I have heard both stories) when asked are you the best and he said no, that, that guy playing lead headlining (Chicago) for me is the best pointing to Kath. Whether it's true or not who knows?

But a great you tube clip to watch Kath do his stuff is the Tanglewood Concert of 1970 on 25 or 6 to 4. If you now are a big fan you may have already seen this but his "fingering and chord changes" and getting particular sounds out without using the whammy bar are just phenomenal. Here I will link you up in case you haven't seen this particular one. Camera work wasn't great but it was 1970.

There are a few urban legends regarding who Jimi said was the best guitarist. The most famous supposedly took place on The Tonight Show where Jimi was to have said that Phil Keaggy was the best guitarist. The Kath story was supposedly a conversation between himself and Chicago's saxophone player. The Keaggy story is verifiably untrue, and the Kath story is just hearsay. It IS however true that Jimi was talking up a pre ZZ Top Billy Gibbons on the Dick Cavett show.

Robert Cray, SRV, EC.Jimmy V came on and Jeff Healy did his thing though he had to have his blind ass helped off stage. Jam at the end.
Started off dropping high quality shrooms in the parking lot til we heard the whoosh of the red helicopter bringing Cray to the stage. Ran to the show. Each artist was flown in that way. I was 20 or so. Best natural amphitheater outside of Red Rocks, even cooler in it's own way.
Magic night of music, they all jammed at the end as the fog set in. Somehow our group of 10 made it back to the motel though we couldn't see to drive through the fog. Heard the next morning that EC let SRV take his chopper out as he had someplace to be and never made it.
The sky was crying. Still have the tshirt.
