Was too streamlined, never got into this series. I hated the over the shoulder camera...Probably the main reason I couldn't get into it.

Here's the microtransactions available on origin:
Marauder Pack (4.99) Marauder Suit and AL-9 Clearcutter Bot Accelerator (4.99) Decreases bot harvesting time 50% Bot Personality Pack (4.99) Gives bot voice and personality, apparently changes based on what you do with them Bot Capacity Upgrade (4.99) Doubles the amount of resources bot delivers Sharpshooter Pack (4.99) Sharpshooter Suit and SMP-90 Sharpshooter Tundra Recon Pack (4.99) Tundra Recon Suit and Aegis VII Survivalist Tau Volantis Survival Kit (14.99) Gives you Bot Accelerator, Marauder, Sharpshooter and Tundra Recon packs Sounds cool, but damn...$5 each. At least the Survival Kit's 4 for $15. But still. Damn. You could spend $25 on day 1 microtransactions (or $30 if you're not savvy enough to buy the Survival Kit instead of the individual packs). |
I'm a bit disappointed with the game so far. I've only played about an hour of it. I don't like shootouts with other humans. It feels less like a survival horror this time around. BUT...I'm not far into it, and I've read some reviews stating that it gets better later on.

My one complaint is the weapons bench is pretty complex. I made a gun not knowing at all what it would do, invested parts and broke down other guns just to have a gun that, in jedi terms, just force pushes. No damage done, nothing, just knocks them backwards. Pretty upsetting.

I never played 1 or 2 so my girlfriend got me Dead Space 1 for Valentine's Day, I'm excited to break it out and start getting into the story. It makes sense that a third would be the weakest of the bunch, happens with most games that reach their third installment. The original theme and ideas that made the franchise usually get made over into something that is supposed to be better but rarely is.

3 is more of an action game, whereas 1 and 2 were more horror/survival. Just my $.02.

According to EA and Visceral that's a rumor, debunked on IGN.com.

The weapon bench is the greatest weapon building system Ive seen in a game. Sorry about your luck, but it sounds like you never played any of the previous Dead Space games, or else you would know what the Force Gun does for you. It obliterates small enemies, and blasts big groups of them back so you dont get overwhelmed. The game has a weapon test arena in the main menu, I strongly recommend entering this, tinkering with your weapons and testing them out. The amount of badassery you can create at the bench is ridiculous. I love all of the Dead Space stuff. For anyone just getting into it, I recommend hitting up Netflix and checking out the films Dead Space: Downfall, and Dead Space: Aftermath. Downfall leaves off in the moments where the Kellion is about to dock with the Ishimura, practicly the opening scene in Dead Space 1. Aftermath bridges the gap, and gives a bit more story leading up to Dead Space 2. Dead Space 3 has been kick-ass so far, and I absolutely love the casting of Simon Templeman (Kain from the Legacy Of Kain Series) to voice the main antagonist. Pretty awesome trilogy of games. |
