Malware Removal

My mother's laptop has AIDS. Malware will open Explorer on it's own and run advertising.

I need a free malware remover or any other suggestions. Thanks!

Probably need to install in safe mode.

Prolly told this story before, but not long ago my buddy caught a virus and asked me to get rid of it. I go over and there's a virus saying he did something illegal and has to send money. It tries to scare you by taking a pic with your webcam, so there was this pic of him all disheveled in the dark. It was so funny!

No prob. 99% of anyone else would recommend the same, I'm assuming b/c it's relatively simple.

Read the stickied thread. If it's really bad, you may have to put it on a thumb drive and boot from that drive.

Protect your inheritance and rebuild the machine.

Yeah, what he said. Malwarebytes is the way to go. I got f'd by the same thing, McAfee let it through, and to top it off couldn't get rid of it.

I had to go into safe mode, start Explorer, then download malwarebytes and it was gone fast.

If only there were a thread dedicated to this type of thing.
