Chiefs Touchdown song...no more?

Meant to post this on Sunday....

I was at the game and when (the one time) Chiefs scored a touchdown, they didn't play that "Hey HEY Kansas City" song.

Have they abandoned it? have you heard anything about this? Will they maybe possibly bring back the traditional Gary Glitter song?

(please say yes)

It's not the same without RR Part2...not even close.

Yeah but it's probably not a good idea for a team to play a track that inspires the home crowd to yell "We're gonna beat the hell outta you" after someone figuratively got the hell beat out of them.

Also because Gary Glitter is a pederast.

Bugeater 11-11-2016 12:12 AM

The pussification of America continues...

Psyko Tek 11-11-2016 12:24 AM

so is that piece o' crap song gone?

MMXcalibur 11-11-2016 12:33 AM

I'd like to get a movement going for "Smack My Bitch Up" by The Prodigy.

Demonpenz 11-11-2016 01:39 AM

Rock and Roll part 2 is missed. Glad they still play Start me up though. That is football.

LMAO

Been to two games so far this year. That song is gone, and some lame 90s sounding thing is played and it is so ****ing boring. There seems to be a huge number of drunken fools now too. Correlation is not necessarily causation, but it is suspicious. Game gets more boring = fools drink more? It is plausible.

That seems like the best time to play it.

That guy got completely drunk and got in a strangers car. What did he expect? Unfortunate he died, but he was trespassing. Smh

Wasn't he passed out when pulled from the vehicle? ****ed up. What happened to the dude that beat his ass? I mean it's not like he was nut deep in his wife or daughter.

TinyEvel 11-11-2016 10:06 AM

Well that song sucked. Glad it's one the way of Crazy Crab. (Giants mascot booed out of the stadium)

I believe he had passed out in another man's car. He was so drunk he couldn't even find his own car...

Problem is the team realized having the song played might cause a liability issue in the event of fan on fan violence.

Is this true? I mean, is it your assumption or was there a release or article stating the fact. I'm just interested to know why they stopped using it (other than it was really lame)

Eleazar 11-11-2016 11:16 AM

What is the new song?

That's my assumption in light of other fan beatings in America. I'd guess the team or league legal counsel made a deal of it last year.

Also the pedophile angle. I don't think it's too coincidental that not even playing the cover version of the song was kosher the season KC was to be the "home" team in London where Glitter's reputation is ruined by trying to **** small children.

They haven't had a consistent TD song all year.

Nary a "You! You! Youyouyou!" to be had this season.

It's definitely a bummer.

Pasta Little Brioni 11-11-2016 11:38 AM

Sucks, but could be worse. Ravens fans STILL rock out to the god awful 7 nation army chant whilst Pile Highers head bang to the Isley Bros ROFL

Tyreek Hill approves of this.

Best22 11-11-2016 12:18 PM

F*** Gary Glitter as well

Dayze 11-11-2016 12:27 PM

knowing the Chiefs they'll probably fix the issue by establishing some new and edgy tune like the them from Caddy Shack by Kenny Loggins

or Train.

Either one of those icons would be sufficient.

wazu 11-11-2016 12:28 PM

Just bring back Gary Glitter. He gets paid like $10 a year for us using it. Tyreek Hill makes a lot more.

Bowser 11-11-2016 12:45 PM

Just use Blur's "WooHoo" song and be done with it.

Pasta Little Brioni 11-11-2016 12:52 PM

I fail to see what was wrong with the remix of RR 2

underEJ 11-11-2016 02:11 PM

The idea of a new song from a local talent wasn't a bad one, they just picked a really dull one. I like the feel of this one. Might be a little fast for the Arrowhead oldies crowd though.

"The oldies" at Arrowhead were listening to The Ramones 40 years ago; this isn't going to have them grasping at their pacemakers.

Your boys here are pretty much just cheap imitations of same...

Ha! I know. I'm ****ing old too! The point was its more fun than the other local choice. And as far as the crowd there goes, a couple of weeks ago, they text voted to hear a Madonna song, which if nothing else was at least a bit of a shift from voting for ZZ Top every time.

As far as the cheap imitations stab goes, everything is an imitation. and they have only just begun. :)

I think it was challenged for being too similar. Again, just use the original then.

Snica 11-11-2016 02:34 PM

Arrowhead without "We're gonna beat the hell outa you" is no Arrowhead at all. They realized they couldn't replace Rock n Roll Part 2 so they abandoned the TD song altogether.

It sure feels that way.

It didn't worth with "Hey Kansas City!" at all so they just punted it. Pretty shitty, IMO.

Dayze 11-11-2016 02:39 PM

I think they should have an ensemble of brass wind instruments, and each quarter, randomly select that number of fans from the stands. They have to go down to where the TD Pack Band used to play, get mic'd up, and play a foreign instrument after a TD until the next randomly selected fans get called down.

ROFL

Dayze 11-11-2016 02:42 PM

I mean, you're odds would be pretty good that if you were selected, you wouldn't have to play anything at all.

or issue 70,000 of these where people would employ them during each WR / horizontal pass / Screen.

Wait...they stopped the Hey Kansas City song because the vocalist got the shit beat out of him? This is news to me.

Link?

I'd guess they stopped playing that because nobody liked it.

Snica 11-11-2016 03:36 PM

Hell, nobody here missed it enough to post about it until this week.

Yeah, and when Dadi Nicolas scores a tackle, they can play the song, "Meet Virginia!!!!"

not a bad song, I like it
not a good video, I don't like that

Nope, noticed it at the home opener and subsequent games.

The new one sucked donkey nuts and they just did away with the whole thing.

Way to take another great aspect of the Arrowhead experience and flush it down the toilet, Chiefs!

Rain Man 11-12-2016 06:17 PM

I assume they had to cancel it out of fear of celebration penalties, right?
