Looking for Software to Record
Here's my deal. I've got some meeting tapes on a portable recorder, but the software on the portable recorder is old and it won't talk to my computer if I hook it up via cable. I can play it on the portable recorder and just need something on my laptop that will listen to it and record it. Anyone know of a software that does that? It seems like it should be something stupid and obvious, but I can't figure out how to do it.

If I understand you correctly, the only free software program that I can think of is audacity.

Audacity would require you to output to a line level input on the PC.
Have you considered just using a cheap microphone and the built-in sound recording software? |
I used Audacity to do something a lot like this and it worked great.

Maybe I'm missing something, but there's a Windows app (under accessories) called Sound Recorder that does this.

I kept thinking there had to be something built in to do that, but I don't have an 'accessories' folder, so once you gave me the name of the software I could search and find it. I'm sure the audacity software does too, but the sound recorder is already on my system. Rep to everyone! It is raining in your rep box! |
