Early Playoff Picture

Kind of a slow Tuesday, thought we could get a little talk going about how the early playoff field is shaping up.

The Rams are the class of the NFC so far, but they've got a tough stretch coming up in their next 4. Packers, Saints, Seahawks, Chiefs. I think the Saints are right there with them and the Vikes are coming on strong. Panthers are just a nasty team to play and they'll be there in the end. The NFCE is a weird mess, but I kind of like the Cowboys to end up winning it.

So in the NFC I think it ends up being
Rams
Saints
Vikes
Cowboys

And the Panthers and (surprise) Seattle in the WC

AFC has the Chiefs, Pats and Chargers all bunched up then a bunch of MEH.

I still like the Steelers offense but they're just goofy, the Bengals are meh, and the Browns have HUE who's awful. The Ravens have a legit D but they seem to sputter on offense some.

The West is the Chiefs and Chargers and I'm probably higher on the Chargers than most here. I think they'll hang right there with KC til the end and one will end up with a WC. The South sucks ass and the Pats have the east on lock down.

So I'll go
Pats
Chiefs (homer)
Texans
Ravens

Chargers and Steelers as the WC
Ravens

How are the playoff schedules determined? That is, is there a way to know if a team will have a Saturday game vs a Sunday game?

Whoever the most popular team is gets the Saturday Night game or the Sunday Afternoon game. There's no formula.

19-1

Only formula is for Conference Championship Games

This year, the AFC Championship will be the night game, while the NFC Championship will be decided in the afternoon

That being said, it’s a safe bet that the AFC South home wildcard game will be a Saturday afternoon game

Not if we’re in it.

Its all about the money. Luckily for us we got the NFL’s new best thing. We are going to get the best time slots and sooner rather than later those “Brady” calls by officials on game day. Sure you don’t want to switch teams?

Is it documented anywhere?

I only ask that because if the NFC goes through LA, and the AFC has two non west coast teams, I bet LA would host the late game.

They rotate every year.

In 2013 and 2015, both Manning-Brady AFCCG were in the afternoon, while Wilson vs Kaep and Palmer vs Newton were night games

It’s all a rotation and has nothing to do with popularity

carcosa 10-23-2018 10:01 AM

The Chiefs will get the 1 seed

Was referring to the AFC South Wild Card game.

pugsnotdrugs19 10-23-2018 10:02 AM

It’ll be Chiefs, Pats, Steelers, Texans, Chargers, and Ravens

So Chiefs are going 15-1 in regular season and playing in wild card round? or you saying Rams go undefeated, win the super bowl but lose the pro bowl?

RunKC 10-23-2018 10:21 AM

Early prediction:

1. Chiefs
2. Pats
3. Steelers
4. Texans
5. Chargers
6. Ravens

WC games would be really good.
